How wide of a tire can i put in rear of a 1970 nova slicks or PASSENGER, COMMERCIAL

I have a 1970 Nova  with a hot motor just did the Posie but still not gripping, I have 225/60/15 but like to go to a 295/50/15 or 265/50/15  maybe 26x10x15.... Don't now.????... Thanks to all

You can go as wide as you want if youre willing to pay. The best thing to do is a taller sidewall, softer shocks, change slicks to drag radials, roll the inner fender with a fender lip roller, (eastwood) and youre on your way. If you are serious about racing, a new set of MONO leaf springs may be the way to go. I learned this after buying multi,
