66 chevy 2

Asked by Mar 27, 2016 at 09:27 PM about the 1966 Chevrolet Nova

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 1966 Chevy 2 with 60,000 original miles
and has the 283 small block V8. I was getting
ready to have it rebuilt but I've discovered that a
327 and a 350 can be bought from the factory
ready to drop in cheaper than a rebuild.  Will other
engine bolt up to my current transmission and if
not how big of a deal will it be to alter. These were
popular cars surely there is a lot of people that
know about this issue and any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Dknuckles... With on 60K on the 283, why the rebuild? Next item to consider is What is your purpose with the car? If you'd like to restore and cruise with it and show it... I'd leave it the way it is.... ALL Numbers Matching Original car is worth a LOT more $$$ than a car with a swapped out engine. A 283 will go as fast as a 327/350.... fast enough to get a ticket!! :-) What kind of transmission? jkfranken@verizon.net if you want to chat more.

like he said- keep it original- it is not only cheaper it is easier and the outcome will be better- if you want to hot rod it, buy a copy of Hot Rod magazine and get some really good, EXPENSIVE ideas-
