What does "engine failure workshop" showing on the dash meanmean?

Asked by Feb 28, 2014 at 08:15 PM about the 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan

Question type: General

This has happened briefly twice in the last two short trips. I am about to drive a longer trip but would like a bit more info. It is also the weekend and Volkswagen aren't open.
Any leads appreciated?

It's the Check engine light and there is a code stored in the system. Take the car to a local mechanic so they can pull the codes and make the repair. Without the code/codes you will just be guessing.
