2015 Toyota Tundra SR Double Cab 5.7L 4WD LB Review
GuruND1K9 says:
The Tundra is more spartan, due to the tested version, the basic SR5. Ride is more truck-like, and the auto transmission, while smooth, gives up just a bit to the Ram. The 5.7 liter V-8 gave a clear edge off the line, but also gives up at least 25% in fuel economy to the Eco-diesel of the Ram. It has a minimum of bells and whistles, which translates to a minimum of things to break down as the miles go by.

Power Ranked 2015 RAM 1500 Laramie Crew Cab LB 4WD worse.
"This was an apples-to-oranges comparison, 5.7 liter gasoline V-8 versus 3.0 liter diesel V-6. The V-8 is a brute with enough power to haul any reasonable load at any sensible speed. The V-6 is a typical small turbo-diesel with decent low-end torque, plenty of hauling power for a half-ton truck and exceptional fuel economy."
Back Seats Ranked 2015 RAM 1500 Laramie Crew Cab LB 4WD better.
"The Ram had the Laramie package plus a full-size crew cab, so better seats, leather upholstery, better foot-room and easier access through bigger rear doors. The Tundra was the double-cab SR5, Toyotas basic truck package, with fabric seats, shorter doors and a bit less leg-room, though it was adequate for full-size adults. Again, apples to oranges. The Laramie is a luxury ride and the SR5 is a work truck."
Value Ranked 2015 RAM 1500 Laramie Crew Cab LB 4WD worse.
"My son (buyer in this case) wanted a basic truck with a bed long enough to sleep in and as little as possible to break, down the road. Both would have met the minimum requirements, but the Tundra had a better price point and fewer things to break. The Ram, with the Laramie package, was a showboat with just too many things to maintain. Nice ride, but not what he was looking for."
Would Buy Ranked 2015 RAM 1500 Laramie Crew Cab LB 4WD worse.
"Again, this was to be a vehicle for the long haul, and Murphys Law has a way of catching up with the more complicated vehicles. Giving up 8 mpg was a wrench, even allowing for the slightly higher cost of diesel fuel, but simplicity won the day. It didnt help that there has been some buzz about camshaft problems with the Ram 3.0 Eco-diesel, and the manufacturers decision to pull the option for several years lends a bit of credibility to those rumors."
