Didnt care for all black including interior as well as exterior. The black leather upholstery had some stains that Im not sure could be removed. Also, the lens on the right rear taillight was broken. Tires still have some wear in them. It drove very nicely. Personally, I think the price is maybe $500 to $750 too high.

Fun, Efficient, And Surprisingly Sporty Family/multi-use Car. — This is a recent purchase, so will update with new impressions once we have them. So far impressed with the car's comfort, space, handling, visibility, and efficiency. Comparable MPG and practicality to a sedan, yet adds AWD and more versatility. Mainly waiting to see how reliability and cost of ownership holds up - Subarus have a good name to them, so things are looking positive.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Early impression: excellent power, handling, and MPG for a crossover SUV. Design is basic but stylish, fun to drive, with excellent visibility and plenty of passenger room.

Cons: Again, early impression: a bit small on the cargo space (expected with a crossover).

Super Car And Great Value. — After 10 years with my old car, I have been checking out what's on the market. I hadn't considered a Subaru until someone suggested how much their friend liked their new Forester. So, not expecting much, I test drove one, three times so far. I was very favorably impressed. For a SUV, handling was quite nimble but was still comfortable over rough roads, railroad tracks and the like, while remaining solid and quiet. The base 2.5i engine was more than adequate for my needs. The interior is very spacious and the visibility great. The front seats could be a little better, but that can be said about most of the small SUVs on the market, and the overall design and infotainment systems are a bit out of date, but I can forgive that since I value the driving aspects of the car more. Overall, it is a great value for the money, even at the higher trim levels. It's my choice when I trade cars later this summer.

Pros: Great job of handling rough pavement without sacrificing cornering and control. Spacious interior and great visibility. Base engine is great for most people. Great driving car.

Cons: Front seats could be better bolstered an more comfortable. Overall design and infotainment tech is a bit behind the times for those who place a high value on those items.

Overall, I Love The Car But Very Disappointed With The Oil Issue. — I bought this car after having my last car for nine years - I was excited about having a new car; my first Subaru. That excitement was diminished very quickly when I had to add oil to it with only 1400 miles on the odometer. If not for the oil problem I would be giving this car very high ratings.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Lots of pros - very roomy, very safe, easy to handle, great gas mileage.

Cons: Excessive oil consumption - have to add a quart every 1400 miles.

Great Car, But Uncertainty Towards Reliability And Warranty —

While not necessarily a charmer from the outside appearances, once you're inside, everything changes. Unexpectedly great legroom, comfortable seating, well appointed accessories for the value and an truly excellent outside view all the way around. Driving was also an unexpected surprise. The Forester drove like a car, was very solid, nimble in handling, and standard acceleration and breaking seemed to be very smooth and capable. I did notice if brisk acceleration was needed, like aggressively entering an onramp, the 2.5L engine tends to flatten out rather soon. Not bad at all for a small SUV, but won't turn heads. I loved the ISight system which worked rather well, slowing us down from 65mph to a full stop behind traffic. It seems like everything was well thought out and accessable. We loved the test drive and bought it that day. Cons were few (see Con's), however, we are a bit concerned regarding info we learned later regarding the reliability and warranty of Subaru products. Prior to buying the Forrester, I had researched much regarding its workmanship, quality, reliability and warranty. I have since discovered a rather large number of fellow owners who are all saying the same things about Subaru's horrid failure rate and poor warranty response. Many are suffering head gasket, wheel bearing, radiator and brake failures, and some are under 60k miles. I will no doubt find out how significant this info is. Would I recommend this to others?..... If the reliability/warranty issue is resolved, then absolutely. If not, then sadly no.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: While the exterior appearance is not the best looker in the lot, it is more than made up by its roominess, safety features, braking, nimbleness and handling, accessories and view. Once inside and driving, you're sold.

Cons: The 2.5 motor is certainly not a feature here, although in normal driving, it seems very perky. It can easily give the false assumption that it has greater power when passing, but quickly flattens out.

The road noise is also louder than I would have liked, and the slats in the overhead exterior rails tend to whistle a little.

The most worrisome is what I haven't experienced as yet, but have recently read an abundance about. Prior to buying the Forrester, I had researched much regarding its workmanship, quality, reliability and warranty. I have since discovered a rather large number of fellow owners who are all saying the same things about Subaru's horrid failure rate, and poor warranty response. Many suffering head gasket, wheel bearing, radiator and brake failures under 60k miles.

I love the way it handles, its very responsive and rides deceptively smoothly- I have to watch my speed. I just bought the car a month ago after my previous car was totaled. It has great view, I feel like I can see all around me and its very comfortable to drive. Ive taken it on an extended trip and experienced little fatigue.

" I just bought the car a month ago after my previous car was totaled, I was looking for a nice vehicle with a comfortable ride but it had to have 4 things - great gas mileage, hold its value, reasonable insurance, and plenty of room."
