Perfect Commuter Car That Is Great For Those Off-road Weekends. — Loved the comfort, roominess, great gas mileage, rugged upholstery and dash, great sound. Performs great in snow, off-road, freeway, commuting. Amazing what you can fit when you lay down the backseats. Split backseats allow for extra room with a seat for a rider in the back. Comfortably fit a 6'5" man in back or front, plenty of legroom.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Plenty of room, great gas mileage, very comfortable ride, great interior that is easy to keep clean.

Cons: It's such a good ride with great gas mileage that you'll rack up the miles before you know it.  It's always the car we wanted to take wherever we were going!

Fantastic — Love the car. We now have two 1 Touring, 1 premium. with the 2014 safety pick, and the 2008 Subaru as a trade in (stopped running...... shop could never figure out what was wrong with the car), it was a no brainer to get the new model

Pros: 2014 Motor Trend Safety Winner;  Nice heavy reliable car

Cons: Touring may not be worth the xtra $$ go to premium instead

Crap — I like everything about the car but the engine and it's oil consumption problem. It is crap!!!! Subaru is ignoring its customers oil consumption problems. DO NOT BUY A SUBARU!!! I don't know how to say it any better. The car would be awesome if it were not for a completely terrible engine oil consumption problem. Not trustworthy for the long haul. I'm selling it FAST!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: I like most everything about the car but oil consumption is making me sell it.

Cons: The engines are trash!!!!!  Oil consumption issues, class action suit!!! DO NOT BUY A SUBARU!!!!!

Best Practical Car I've Experienced — I was so unexcited to purchase this car, I did it for practical reasons. After 1 year I can see why people get attached to Subarus - the car simply does most everything well. My main complaint is that it is simply a visual disaster to look at - the engineers rule the roost at Subaru, designers clearly have a muted voice. If this balance shifts, I'd be a long time customer.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Simple, reliable, great visibility, surprisingly powerful, trust it on trails and snow.

Cons: A bit numb, just horrible visually

There were only 2 cars I was considering based upon published ratings and rankings: Mazda CX-5 Touring and the Subaru Forester Premium. I chose the Forester over the Cx-5 for its safety, fuel efficiency, roominess and beautiful panoramic sunroof.
