2013 Ford Focus Review
kurtster says:
Quality of workmanship just wasnt there on the Focus ST. Loads of horsepower but more weight than some competitors. Stylish looks but the fit and finish didnt impress me. Your can fit your thumb in the gap between the headliner and the inside of the top. A gentle tug on the gauge cluster on the dashboard moves the entire thing. There are big pieces of styrofoam behind the rear seats. It just looked cheap.

Handling Ranked 2013 MINI Cooper Coupe better.
"They dont say the MINI has go-cart handling for nothing. It sticks to the ground like nobodys business."
Looks/Style Ranked 2013 MINI Cooper Coupe better.
"People usually love or hate this design. I hated it when I first saw it in print. When I saw the car in person, it was love at first site. Weird, but true."
Front Seats Ranked 2013 MINI Cooper Coupe better.
"The number of seating options is substantially higher in the MINI. The Focus ST seats are a little garish."
Back Seats Ranked 2013 MINI Cooper Coupe worse.
"The MINI Coupe doesnt have back seats. For me thats a plus. Not everyone has dogs, or stuff to haul. If its your only car, back seats may be important but for couple with a utilitarian vehicle already, the lack of back seats may not be a deterrent."
Family Car Ranked 2013 MINI Cooper Coupe worse.
"The Focus seats more than two people. If youve only got one car and a family size of more than two people, the MINI Coupe isnt going to work for you. Then again, neither would a Z4."
Value Ranked 2013 MINI Cooper Coupe worse.
"It costs less than the MINI and compares favorably on paper for sheer horsepower. However, its fuel economy isnt up to that of the MINI and neither is the handling."
Would Buy Ranked 2013 MINI Cooper Coupe better.
"Everything is put together tightly and cleanly. This car oozes character and is simply more fun to drive, with snappy, tight steering and the feeling the road is there to be owned. Fuel economy is good and if you dont need rear seats, why pay for them? Besides, its easier to park than just about anything else."

Loved It Until My Grandchildren Out Grew The Back Seat — Loved the ride, the options and the gas mileage! The heated seats were very nice in the winter and the back up camera was a nice feature, even for parking, The car would be perfet for a small family vehicle.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Great gas mileage, full of options for comfort and love the hatchback

Cons: Back seat is not as roomy as I need.

Cheap To Run And Maintain + Fun And Zippy To Drive = A Great Little Car — Appearance - exciting European aesthetics makes the car look fast and sporty. Build quality - everything is well put together. No rattles. No repairs whatsoever since new, super cheap to maintain, and to run. Performance - although not a fast car, but the manual transmission really helps to speed things up, and keep things exciting for the driver. The clutch feels light and easy to use. Braking is sensitive when needed, and not overly so. The handling of the car is well balanced - European style suspension inspires sporty handling, but soaks up bumps easily when going over pot holes, and cracks.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Cheap to run, zippy and fun to drive in manual transmission, great design and looks, practical, sporty, Bluetooth, USB connection, steering wheel controls, voice control, easy to maintain.

Cons: Not a fast car but manual transmission helps, back seats could be tight if driver and front passenger are over 6ft tall.

Excellent Handling, Gas Saving, Butt Warming, Value Car :) — This car has everything I wanted when I shopped for something affordable, with quality and expectations of reliability. You know that you're going to get big milage out of a quality vehicle like this and for 25k it's tough to beat. You could get a kia, or nissan, but something made in America that handles like it's from Japan, sips fuel like it's from Germany, and has the lure of Americana. I just really like it. Feel safe driving it. Very responsive to drivers input. Good acceleration with better breaking. Low maintence costs.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: This car handles like a 35k sports car. It's a very solid driving car that sips gas. It looks great, and you can't go wrong with the leather / heated seat interior. This is a great car that is an awesome value.

Cons: I wish the truck were bigger for when I go golfing with my buddys. The seats can go down to accomidate more than a standard trunk but that's tough when you also have other people in the car.

Fun, A Bit Funny — Certainly and exciting car with character busting from the seams. It's not luxury, but it's by no means economy either. The sport mode is nifty for getting that extra kick while entering the interstate or passing. Typical drive mode keeps the MPG right around 29 with typical mixed driving around town. Rear-view camera is a necessity in this vehicle-- the back window is tiny!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Great style, always an interesting drive, rear-view cam very helpful

Cons: Ford Touch screen draws attention from driving, not always reliable.

Excellent Drivers Car — Best car I have ever owned. One of the most fun cars I have ever driven. Great compromise on price, performance and economy. very reliable, would definitely purchase the new RS focus on the heels of owning the ST, if the new RS focus wasn't 40k+!!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fantastic handling for FWD car!!.  Great power, peak torque @ 2500rpm. Fantastic gearbox, Fantastic Brakes, real drivers car.

Cons: In town Gas MPG is average at best. Seats are tight and may not be comfortable for most over sized persons..  Turning radius is quite large for such small car.

Leading In The Sport Compact Class! — One of the best vehicles in the sport compact class. Miles ahead of other cars in the class like the MAZDASPEED3, Volkswagen GTI, Honda Civic SI, Dodge Dart, and any other car in the FWD category. Fantastic ride, and a perfect choice for driving enthusiasts and manual fans alike.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Power, fun, great feel, aggressive styling, practical

Cons: Losses cargo capacity due to full size spare

Ford Focus - If You Like Quick, This Is It. — I don't dislike anything about this vehicle. I will keep you updated. I have some issues with the CVT transmission, but only because this is my first vehicle with this type of drivetrain. I find it feels as thought it is slipping and over-revving, but I can't pin point it yet. The car sounds good too. I never thought an Inline-4 could be so beautiful.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Driving this you would never know there is a 2.0L - 4 Cylinder engine. The car goes, and goes quick. The handling is superb and drives like a race car. It hugs the road really well, and I have never been so impressed by a Ford product.

Cons: None yet.
