Way More Fun Than A Corolla Or A Civic — Best-in-class engine performance that harms fuel economy. Mazda is resolving that detriment in the next generation of engines. Firm but not punishing ride with handling that stands up to my A4's. Clean and functional inside and out. Build quality is very good and it is a very fun car to drive. I care nothing for prestige or size so this is a great car for me.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Bang for buck.

Cons: Can't seem to get more than 26 mpgs when driving angelically.

Great Car, Comfortable And Performant — My wife and I share this car. We've had it for 3 months, and it's been great so far. It's comfortable, handles well, and it zooms. The backseat legroom isn't wonderful, and the mileage - well, did I mention the zoom? We don't drive that many miles because we commute to work on public transit, so mileage ended up being a secondary concern for us. The hatchback is great for moving stuff.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Great handling/power. Comfortable interior

Cons: The fuel economy

Good Little Car For The Money, But If You Can Spend Extra 4-6k There Are Better Cars Out There. — It's a nice little car. A bit underpowered and the interior noise is quite bad. But it's pretty responsive and handles quite well. The interior features are good. It's quite cheap and for the money this car is pretty good. You won't be racing anyone in this, but it's still pretty fun to drive, especially if you get it with the manual transmission.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: cheap, economical, well equipped, fun to drive.

Cons: quite loud on the inside.

Great For Those Looking For A Compact Car With An Edge — After researching and test driving many different compact cars I narrowed the search down to a few Asian brands: Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, and Mazda. While all of the brands provided reliable vehicles with good gas milage and plenty of features, I settled on the Mazda 3 because it was just... more fun. If I had the money (or desire) to own a sports car I would have obviously been shopping in a whole other category. I was looking for a daily commuter that would hold up well and save me some money in the long run. But nobody is going to say 'no' to having a bit of fun while travelling from Point-A to Point-B.

Pros: Sporty, quick, fun with tight suspension, a competitor in it's class, great value

Cons: cramped, rough, less fuel economy than others in it's class

2011 Mazda MAZDA3 s Sport Hatchback Review
Bailey says:
Had a 2012 S grand touring hatchback. The looks great, drives great, though is somewhat underpowered. The Bluetooth works well if you dont ask it to switch phones too often. I never had any problems with not having enough space. The back seats dont have much legroom and is uncomfortable with 3 people back there though. Loads of trunk space if you fold down the seats. Nothing about the car really annoyed me, nothing seemed to be done badly with the infotainment system or anything. The sport mode where you shift manually worked great and was fun. The Bose sound system was amazing, better than almost any car Ive ever been in, and there was no chance I would ever hit the top volume. Plenty of cup holders and storage space, large, deep center console. Easy to use aux and car charger ports in the center console as well.

Value Ranked 2011 Volkswagen Golf TDI 2dr better.
"The 2011 volkwagen golf tdi 2dr is a better value for one thing because the market for Mazda 3 hatchbacks is slim. Also, for me the 2drs work great for me because I rarely use my back seats, so I mostly just leave them down for more trunk space. But when I want to use the back seats, there is plenty of legeoom. It is annoying to have to climb into the back, but once you are back there it is plenty spacious"
