Great Car, Expect They'll Improve Their Funky Roof Rack After Hearing Complaints, Super Leg Room — I'm very happy with my Outback, although disappointed with the limited utility roof rack, and surprised to learn after purchase that the window weather stripping doesn't wipe clean - wet raindrop spotted windows, and actually streaks dry windows with the water its held for days after rainshowers. CD shuffle works on only one disc at a time - not a 6 disc shuffle.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Heated leather seats, great handling on twisty mtn road in heavy rain

Cons: Roof Rack has limited utility, Window weather strips hold water for days

Great — Like the way it handles, looks and feels. I have only had this car for 3 weeks. too early to talk about cost of ownership and build quality. Expect the best. The 4 is very good for a 4, but miss 6 once in a while.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

    Pros: Very positive handling; solid

    Cons: None

Great New Awd Suv With A Bad Roof Rack — I bought the 4 cylinder for the gas mileage. Over the 1st 1200 miles of mostly city driving it averaged 27.3 MPG. The CVT transmission is a little odd at first and seems underpowered when you are used to the kick down to a lower gear. With the paddle shifters the accelleration is good. The rack for 2010 is poor for kayaks and won't accept aftermarket bars or accessories. The Subaru kayak carriers are just rebranded Yakima with different clamps. The car is a blast to drive off road. I have had it in the mud and traction was exceptional. Should be excellent in snow. Build quality is good. Very tight. Styling is beautiful in & out. Suggest the upgraded radio. Stock is just adequate.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

    Pros: AWD & Mileage

    Cons: Rack

2010 Subaru Outback — The overall quality of the Outback is great. The ride quality is smooth, yet if you throw it into a corner it doesn't handle like a boat. Subaru utilized the interior space quite sell, however a few more cubby-hole for storage would be nice. A couple of little things like one touch up/down window controls would be nice. Great purchase.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Great space, nice utility, smooth ride with decent handling

Cons: roof rack system, small missing details.

Faboo — Sexy six-speed, smooth shifting, great color, amazing pick-up for four cylinders and even better mpg., which is far better than predicted by Subaru. Fun! Plus, the folks at the dealership were wonderful to work with.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

    Pros: everything

    Cons: hatch doesn't close well

Roomy Car, Good Value. — We bought the car for the CVT engine...Decent gas mileage, ok power. Very roomy and comfortable. It took a few weeks to find the one we wanted and then had to settle for a moon roof which we didn't want, but the price was good, especially with the "cash for clunkers" program.

    Pros: Roomy

    Cons: 4 cylinder

Solid Station Wagon. — This car is fun to drive and handles well for a large station wagon. The Flat 4 engine is mounted low in the engine bay to give it a better center of gravity for handling turns. This car has plenty of power with the continuously variable transmission and has no problem climbing hills. It automatically finds the best gear ratio to match the engine speed and deliver optimal fuel economy.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Very efficient Four cylinder engine mated to CVT transmission.  Very comfortable seats and easy to drive,  excellent visibility,  excellent handling,  and smooth ride with 30 mpg on highway.

    Cons: None.

You Will Have A Hard Time Finding A Better Deal Than An Outback! — If you want a dependable car, great mileage, versatility, fantastic on ice, rain, snow, and with the highest safety rating available, you will have a hard time finding a better deal than an Outback. The Outback also has one of the highest resale values on the market. We started to buy a one-year Outback with 15,000 miles on it, but got a NEW 2010 with ZERO miles for $800 more! That's LESS than 4%! I challenge ANYONE to find a vehicle that retains NINETY-SIX percent of its value after one year.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: This is, without question, the best all-around family car we have ever owned!

Cons: I do wish the seats were a little more plush, and the blower fan can be a little loud.
