The Volkswagen Passat Komfort sedan receives a few new options for 2009, including a rearview camera and a new hard-drive-based navigation system. In addition, new paddle shifters and three new steering wheel designs are available for '09. However, VW has done away with such optional features as leather upholstery, xenon headlamps, and upgraded audio systems. Despite these adjustments, the Passat Komfort's driver-focused cabin still offers a variety of upscale standard features for '09, including five-level heated front seats, a 12-way power-adjustable driver's seat, V-Tex leatherette upholstery, and a power glass sunroof. Also standard are an eight-way manual-adjustable passenger seat, a leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel, air conditioning, cruise control, remote keyless entry, and a multifunction trip computer. The Komfort's eight-speaker AM/FM audio system includes a 6-CD changer, Sirius satellite radio, and an MP3 input jack. The 60/40-split rear seats fold down and feature an armrest with a trunk pass-through for transporting longer objects. Outside, the '09 Passat Komfort sports such features as halogen headlights, LED taillights, power exterior mirrors, and 17-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires.
A 2.0-liter, double-overhead-cam, turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine powers the '09 Passat Komfort. The turbocharged four-cylinder produces 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, and drives the sedan from 0-60 in around 7.5 seconds. The engine pairs with a six-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, which enables drivers to shift manually. Fuel economy averages a decent 19/29 mpg. Antilock brakes with brake assist, traction control, and an electronic stabilization system come standard.
