The Sport Edition is the mid-level trim between the base SR5 and luxurious Limited models. This finish adds 17-inch wheels, power seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and special X-REAS shocks. These shocks are cross-linked, hence the X, left front to right rear and vice-versa. The benefits of the X-REAS system include a damped ride that retains some road responsiveness and better cornering, thanks to a hydraulic pump and sensing system that limit body roll. This suspension is not designed for serious off-roading.
This is the most modest offering the Sport trim group, with front-wheel drive and the 4.0-liter V6. The V6 provides 236 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a five-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. All V6 4Runners can tow 5,000 pounds. Fuel economy is a respectable 18/22 mpg with this engine and drivetrain.
