Cant Wait For The Diesel Models To Arrive In Canada — After 3 months and 6 050 kilometers I must say I am impressed with this vehicle. I have never driven an AWD vehicle before and I must say is makes a difference in handling, acceleration, braking....cant wait for the next snow storm. Driving comfort is great, basic radio system is acceptable, instrument panel is nicely layed out. Only negative aspect that bothers me is the fuel consumption.......but the Forester is not a Yaris so I shouldnt complain.

Pros: Symmetrical AWD, seating comfort, cargo capacity, solid chassis, easy to use controls (radio, ventilation, etc..)Great handling and good suspension.

Cons: feul consomption; on a full tank (60 litres) driving 85 % in the city and 15% highway average kilometers of 450 kilometers.(although I have yet to see the low fuel symbol light up). Slight wind noise at highway speeds.

Stocky Sleeper — The car is unassuming until you get up close. The STi body kit and rims give it an aggressive look and the WRX engine gives it plenty of pep. The interior is spartan but comfortable, no overload of electronic gadgets (aside from the AUX in port on the dash - which I love). I took it on a 1,000 mile road trip with two dogs and was very happy with how it rode and handled, especially in snowy weather.

Awesome!! — Even though I have modified my Forester I would have to say that in stock form that it was still a fun car. The quality of the interior is pretty dang decent and spacious, plus I've already used it to haul quite a few Large items around town, or even further.

Pros: Fun to drive. Lot's of interior Room. Symmetrical All Wheel Drive. Insanely Large Sun/moon Roof. (always get complements on that)

Cons: Handling. Although once I added the Coilover suspension it was tamed quite nicely. And I'm sure some larger Sway bars would help as well.

Growing On Me. Forester Verses The Honda Element. —

I needed a four door with extra room and thought AWD would be a good idea. The forester has been given so many good ratings it made into out must test drive list. We drove the Honda Element and the Forester Sport X on the same day. The Element has a utility "from follows function appeal". The Element did not drive well. It felt underpowered. It rides and steers kind of like a boat. At 75 miles an hour our test vehicle shimmed and made wife feel seasick! Additionally the pillars on the front and rear windows in combination with the reverse doors cause six major blind spots. The rear seats are difficult to operate, and heavy. The Forester Sport X has lines that grow on you. With the rims and spoiler(an option on our) and the news grill the feisty little wagon gets approving nods and compliments. My wife drove the Forester and decided she did not want to drive any other cars! Fortunately, my salesman did not here her say this!. I have been driving the Sport X for a week and find I like it a bit more each day. This little wagon/SUV is easy to drive, has good snappy power. I am got 26 MPG on my first tank of gas!

Owner for 0 years, 1 months

Miles Driven per Year:16,000

Pros: Ride
Room
Traction
View
Lots of Cup Holders
Temp Control
Sound System
Towing Capacity

Cons: No heated seats.  That's it!

Scooby In Sheeps Clothing — I love all the power in a car that does not look like a sport style car but has loads of acceleration. Boy racers do not realise it has a good speed and can out drag them on the motor way

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Power

Cons: Luxury

MiguelXT says:
Probably the best cross-over ever made. Its a wrx with a bigger body thats pretty much what it is. It handles like a sports car and hold groceries like a station wagon. Mine is a 5 speed so the power is all in your hands and its just an all out great car.

Would Buy Ranked 2016 Subaru Forester 2.0XT Premium worse.
"I would buy a 2008 forester xt sports over any newer forester xt because of the manual transmission you cant beat being able to shift when you want over this new technology that shifts for you. "

2008 Subaru Forester 2.5 XT Limited Review
Mack says:
Designed around a long proven mode, it just works. Compared to the Vue it has less power but it is adequate. Its a little boxy in appearance so the VUE has a more modern look. The seats are better than in the VUE, the front seats especially have more support and room.

Handling Ranked 2008 Saturn VUE XR V6 AWD better.
"The Vues suspension seems more taunt and less prone to body roll making it seems more stable in turns. "
Would Buy Ranked 2008 Saturn VUE XR V6 AWD worse.
"The cost of ownership of the Forester when compared to the VUE is much less considering the almost certainty of a failed transmission in the Vue. The resale value of the Vue drops to the range of basic economy cars because of its poor reliability whereas the Forester, like all Subarus commands top dollar even on the used market."
