Definately The Best Car I've Driven So Far. — Having had an older Ford Focus just prior to this one, some of my expectations were particularly low. Whilst I was generally satisfied with the car, the 1.6L petrol engine lacked any real power, and the fuel economy left a lot to be desired when compared with the official figures. Fortunately, the decision to trade that one in for the newer model, and to make the switch to a 2L diesel with a 6-speed gearbox, addressed all the issues I had experienced with its predecessor, giving real over-taking power on the motorway, fuel economy in-line with official figures, and vastly improved handling courtesy of the Electronic Stability Program. Whilst the build and trim quality is no where near that of German rivals, it's still acceptable, with only a few occassional squeaks & rattles to complain about so far. Interiour and exterior styling is based on Ford's new 'kinetic design' and make the car quite nice to look at, and a pleasant place to sit in.

Pros: Good performance and high standard of kit for an affordable, medium-sized diesel car.

Cons: Doesn't stand out in a crowd, and running costs not as cheap as some rivals.

My Opinion In The Focus Ghia 2008. — I like the car, it is very good in handling, good brakes, good acceleration. The interior appearance of the car is very good and also the front exterior appearance, but the back view of the car could be better. The only problem that i've found in the focus is that the maximum speed that i got is only 170 km/h although the max speed on the speed gauge is 240 km/h.

Pros: The overall performance of the car is good.

Cons: The maximum speed of the car sucks.

Where Mpgs Meet Mp3s —

Performance: Acceleration is average, braking is average although braking feel is a little soft, handling is responsive with quick steering. Build Quality: It hasn't needed anything repaired yet. Pretty solid from when I bought it. No rattles or anything. Apperance: Exterior apperance is definitely unique and is always a matter of opinion. I wasn't too fond of it at first glance but the look has grown on me. Interior is definitely an upgrade. It's clean and modern looking and the buttons and controls are well configured and placed. Cost of Ownership: Gas is good with responsible driving. Unfortunately, I do a lot of driving so I don't notice the money I'm saving. But the car sips fuel and filling up is easy on the wallet. Maintenence is simple and cheaper than one might think. But really, it is a entry level vehicle, how expensive did you think it might be? Fun Factor: Is it fun to drive? Yes. I have the 5 speed manual transmission and I will have to say that the car is geared pretty well and it's not bad when your foot gets a little heavy. I also have the car with the optional SYNC system which makes the car even more enjoyable. My calls are all hands free and the voice recognition is excellent. Definitely a great perk. As I told my friend Tyler, Ford wasn't kidding with it's "MPGs meet MP3s" slogan. It's cheap, is reliable (so far) and fun. It's a welcome alternative to Sentra and Civic.

Pros: A stylish fuel saver that's comfortable and fun to drive or even ride in.

Cons: The back seat is hard to access

Great Car — Great car. Was really surprised when I test drove one. Bought one a few months later. Have to get the 5 spd. though. An automatic would make this care too boring. The care is a blast to drive. Handles great and is surprisingly quick for a 2.0L.

Pros: Engine, tranny, handlying

Cons: not enough light in the backseat.

A Much Better Car Than The One It Replaced. —

Someone at Ford actually understands what has made Ford suffer all these years. Its a shame it took this long for them to realize their foolishness since many of the things wrong could have been done easily and fixed relatively cheaply. Anyways onto the new Focus. Ford still haven't used the C1 platform that has been used by the Euro Focus, Mazda 3 and Volvo S40 so this car still suffers from not being as good as it could be. I know the Mazda and Volvo drive great, this one is just merely alright. The engine is better this time, and the wheel is a bit lighter this time too. The problem is while it handles alright, it could have been better. Driving the Mazda and Volvo show that this Ford's outdated platform is just not worth wasting money on. The interior is a lot lot better. There is colour in this interior which is something the previous Focus had none of. There are even several chrome pieces and status screens. Dare I say, for once a Ford interior looks a tad more advanced and more expensive than a Toyota one. Build quality has also improved over the old one. Bravo Ford, it seems you got the message. This car is now a real viable option against the Civic and Corolla since it does drive better. Its such a shame that Ford went with the Gillette grille theme since it doesn't suit this car at all. I actually prefer the previous car's styling. While I think its actually worthy of competing, it still sits in the shadows of the Mazda 3, the car which it could have become.

Pros: Several improvements over previous Focus, drives alright, built better than last time

Cons: Styling is a big step backwards, it could have driven like a Mazda 3 making this car excellent

2008 Ford Focus Tdci — Overall, this is the best car that I have driven. The steering is sharp and responsive, the acceleration is fantastic, athough the torque make it prone to Torque Steer and you need to drive gingerly on wet roads. The only critisism is the interior trim quality is a bit poor. The gaps between panels and the general finish is a bit second rate, but that said, it is still a nice and practical place to drive.

Pros: Performance & Handling

Cons: Interior Trim

Commuter Best Buy — I bought this as a commuter car -- and it's been super for that purpose. It's actually got a lot of head and leg room, and I don't feel cramped the way I did in the Corolla or even the Civic. I'd buy this car again in a heartbeat -- I've averaged between 32 and 38 mpg and while gas is cheap right now, it won't be for long.

Pros: Performance, economy, driver room

Cons: Bland, bland, bland looking
