As the basic trim in this model, the V70 2.4 still includes as standard equipment such features as ABS, traction control, daytime running lights, manual dual-zone (front) air conditioning, driver and front passenger air bags (front and side-curtain), and CD player.

The 2.4 scores high marks for comfort, especially when it's equipped with the optional leather seats, which are available in a Premium Package that also includes electronic dual-zone climate control (an upgrade over the manual dual-zone climate control, which comes as standard), an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat with memory, genuine walnut inlays, and a power moonroof.

The car is already good-looking, but those touches make it all the more handsome. The navigation system is not available on the 2.4.

Cargo space is better than average, but three adults or teens might find the backseat a bit tight. As always, Volvo recommends the use of 93 octane gasoline, so be prepared at the pump. It's worth it, though, because this car is a keeper and you want it to run its best.

The list of complaints is so far small, but one gripe is that the backseat headrests can obstruct the rear view. Still, this seems like a relatively easy thing to get used to, especially considering the safety role that the devices play for those passengers.

The 2.5 in the name comes of course from the engine size, and the T denotes turbo. The five cylinders yield 208 horsepower at 5000 RPM, and you can expect gas mileage of 20 city/29 highway. Outdoorsy types appreciate that this front-wheel drive wagon will quite capably tow up to 3300 lbs. It comes only in a 5-speed automatic transmission, so if you were hoping for a manual you'll have to opt for the 2.4 with its 5-speed manual overdrive, or the R trim with its standard 6-speed manual overdrive.

The standard safety features of the 2.5T do their part to uphold Volvo's stellar reputation for building some of the safest cars on the road. Antilock brakes are a given, as are traction control and stability control and driver and passenger air bags (front as well as side-curtain).

In addition, every V70 2.5T comes with daytime running lights and fog lamps. Heated mirrors, heated seats, and rain-sensing windshield wipers are available as part of the Climate Options Package. The navigation system is available as a separate option.

Owners of the V70 2.5T praise it not only for its turbo power and comfort, but also for its good looks inside and out. Even the gauges and instrument panel are pleasing to the eye. 2.5Ts equipped with the Premium Option Package also feature genuine walnut trim along with leather seats, a power moonroof, and an 8-way power adjustable passenger seat (this feature comes standard for the driver's seat).
