Fun — I bought this Mini new in 2007 and thought I would keep it for three years. It has been nearly seven years and I now plan to garage until my 16-year old daughter "deserves" it. I want a new 2014....

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: fun to drive

Cons: Front wheel drive

Great Things Really Do Come In Small Packages. — Handling is superior to anything I have ever driven. This is a street legal go kart that makes commuting to work fun. Good gas MPG, and reliable engine (made by BMW) make this a great buy, no wonder there are Mini-Cooper auto clubs across the USA they know what a great car this is. Space. Don't plan any camping trips or long road trips with this unless you naturally travel light. Cargo room once you drop the back seats is adequate for one person to move a few few things like luggage and a small pet but thats about it. Great things really do come in small packages.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Mini Has Great Personality — Handling through curves and acceleration is exceptional. The car is exciting and looks cool. Good brakes. Seats are comfortable. Interior lighting is modern. On board computer is ok. Replace run flats with non-run flat high performance tires for a superior ride. Average mileage is 28mpg with mostly city hard driving. Body is sound. Over time there are little rattles that are annoying. Must watch the oil regularly (weekly), otherwise the engine will be garbage. Overall a great experience.

Pros: It is blast to drive. Love the sound of the turbo screaming when I get on it.  Handles like a charm. There are no dead spots. Car has personality inside and out.

Cons: Run flats on 17" wheels is harsh. Repairs are expensive

Junk!! — Do not buy! Over priced miniature BMW. Don't let the styling fool you. These things are known to have a sundry of life threatening issues. I was told these burn oil at a fast rate. Oil changes are required every 15,000 miles. I had mine changed every 3 (this is $120 with synthetic oil) and was told each time that there was NO oil in the engine each time. There is no warning light. This is unacceptable. My engine finally failed at 57,000 miles and MINI didn't offer me any financial assistance because I was not the first owner and because my car was now out of warranty. This was my 4th "BMW" and the 10th in my family. WE will never buy BMW again. They are amazing vehicles when new but turn to JUNK after 50k miles. So sad.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fun to drive, great MPGs, handling like a go kart.

Cons: engine to needed to be replaced at 57,000 miles

Fun Car To Drive — Love the zip and cornering. 6speed is responsive, had supercharger instead of turbo, turbo is faster. I averaged 27mpg, newer models get alot better. Terrible resale value since market is over run with used minis. The S is better car.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fast, corners great , fun to drive 6 speed

Cons: Repair costs, small, 1person car

Great Little Car! Good Every Day Driver — We use the Mini every day as a commuter and it excels for that! Great in the snow and super fun to drive. Handles great and is very quick. Feels bigger inside and can haul lots of stuff. Just an overall great car.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Great little car - Very roomy, reliable and great gas mileage.  Fun to join a Mini group for rides

Cons: A little creaky (very BMW)

Fun Car! — It's not the most practical car around, but it's a fun ride and it gets great gas mileage. Just keep in mind that it uses BMW parts, though, so expect a BMW sized repair bill when you take it in for service!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: The looks, the handling, the good gas mileage

Cons: The useless back seats, and the insanely high parts cost.

Fun-to-drive Factor Is Amazing With This Car And Will Keep You Grinning Long After You Step Out. — Car is an absolute blast to drive. Mileage is great for being turbocharged and handling is great too. Maintenance can be a little pricey, especially if you drive the car hard. Needs premium gas so that can cancel out the savings from the MPG.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Acceleration, handling, fun factor, and comfy seats.

Cons: Burns through oil, rides hard on uneven pavement, can only unlock hatch when key FOB is disconnected from car.

Great If You Plan To Sell It Before The Warranty Expires — I fell in love with this car the moment I drove it. I picked everything out from the factory so it really felt like MY car. It is the non-turbo with a stick. It was a small car but did not feel like a small car. It felt like a BMW solid and responsive. It was an absolute joy to drive and it got about 500 miles per gallon. It's fatal flaw was its quality. As a whole Mini Coopers are incredibly poor quality. I had several repairs under warranty and the particular model I got was actually the most reliable. The automatic transmissions blow every 55-75K and the turbo motors get valve rattle sometimes within weeks of purchase. They call it the "Death Rattle". Although I LOVED this car more than any other car I have ever owned I cannot recommend it unless you purchase the extended service package to 54K and then sell it before it hits that number. If you are willing to do this you will have a lot of fun.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: The most fun I've ever had in a car

Cons: Poor reliability

Great Little Car — Excellent fun to drive the MINI. Torquey turbo charged engine, means you don't have to thrash it to have fun. Great handling and predictable when pushing hard. Loves twisty B roads. If you are bothered about MPG / Performance compromise, and don't like the idea of a diesel car, this is perfect.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fun to drive

Cons: Runflat tyres don't like potholes
