After a more significant face lift for the previous model year, the Chrysler PT Cruiser receives only minor changes in 2007. This base model now includes keyless entry and a power lift gate as standard features. The PT has been around since 2001, but it remains in its first generation.
The base is the first of four available trims on the wagon. The 4-door body style is applied to all wagons, and the 2-door setup is only found on the convertibles. The entry-level PT comes equipped with MP3-compatible CD audio system, as well as power windows and locks. Items like air conditioning, power mirrors, and a CD changer are all optional here.
The PT wagon is categorized as a compact car, stretching just 169 inches in length and weighing 3076 pounds. This model is fitted with the meekest of three 2.4 liter engine variations. Without the turbo enhancement offered on other PT models, the base wagon is supplied with 150 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy is expected at 21/26 mpg with the four speed automatic transmission, and 22/29 mpg with the five speed manual.

The 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser is carried over from the previous model year. In 2006, the PT underwent a face lift which added new headlight and taillight designs, a restyled grille, and a more refined interior finish. An interior flood lamp is the only addition for 2007.
The PT Touring model is finished with a second-tier trim which adds a few additional features. The Touring PT includes extra power outlets, air conditioning, and fold-flat seating for extra cargo capacity. These items are added to standards like an MP3-ready CD sound system, keyless entry, full power accessories, and a power lift gate. Popular options include satellite radio, an in-dash CD changer, and heated seats.
Both Touring models are available with two engine options, but they can only be mated to a four speed automatic transmission. The 150 horsepower 2.4 liter inline four is the standard engine, and a turbocharged 180 horsepower version is optional. When the turbo is added, torque jumps from 165 to 210 pound-feet. the extra power does not cost much in the way of fuel efficiency: the EPA estimate is reduced only slightly from 21/26 mpg to 19/25.

The upscale Limited trim is exclusive to the four door wagon body. This model includes a CD audio system with an in-dash MP3 device plug-in, air conditioning, keyless entry, fold-flat rear seats, and full power accessories. Additional standard items a power driver's seat, 16-inch wheels, touring suspension and a moon roof. All-around upgraded seats have also been added.
The PT Cruiser comes standard with 2.4 liter inline four cylinder engine. On its own, the small power plant generates 150 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque. Buyers may opt for the Quick Order G Package, which adds a turbocharger, bumping horsepower to 180 and torque to 210 pound-feet. All Limited PTs pair the 2.4 liter turbo engine with a four-speed automatic transmission.

Chrysler's strong-selling PT Cruiser returns without change for 2007, after a series of touch-ups for the prior year. A console light has been added to all models.
The base trim level can also be applied to the PT Cruiser Convertible, but this addition will include a few extra standard features. In addition to power windows and locks and an MP3-ready CD sound system, the convertible also includes air conditioning, power mirrors, and a power top. Keyless entry also becomes a base standard feature for 2007.
All PT Cruisers are powered by a small DOHC inline four cylinder engine, but the Limited, Touring, and GT trims all offer a turbo enhancement to the modest 2.4 liter foundation. On the base models the engine stands on its own, providing 150 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque. It can be teamed with either a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission. The base and GT models are the only two PTs which offer a 5-speed.
The pairing of the unaltered engine and the manual transmission will offer the best fuel economy in the PT lineup, at 22/29 mpg. The automatic version drops to 21/26 mpg.

Chrysler first introduced the PT cruiser Convertible in 2005, for the fifth model year of the PT series. Both versions received some noticeable touch ups for 2006, including new headlights and taillights and a redesigned grille.
In 2007, all PT Cruiser trims come standard with keyless entry, a CD audio system with an MP3 player input and power windows and locks. All convertibles add air conditioning, a power-folding top, and power mirrors. The Touring trim will also offer extra power outlets and flat-folding rear seats (wagon only). ABS and side impact airbags are optional on this model.
There are two engine choices for the Touring and Limited trims. The base 2.4 liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder is the standard powerplant, supplying 150 hp and 165 pound-feet of torque. An optional turbocharger may be added to the engine, bringing horsepower to 180 and torque to 210 pound-feet. The convertible mechanisms adds about 250 pounds to the PT's curb weight, now at 3,303 pounds. All Touring PTs are front-wheel drive and use a 4-speed automatic transmission.

There are no significant changes to the PT Cruiser for 2007. The PT underwent many styling revisions in 2006, marked by a noticeably different front end thanks to a new grille and headlight design.
The GT is the most expensive of the four available PT trims, differentiated from the base by nearly $15,000. The GT is primarily set apart from the other models by performance. While a peek under the hood will reveal the same 2.4 liter inline four, the GT has added a higher output turbocharger. Horsepower jumps from 150 to 230 with this addition, and torque rises from 165 to 245 pound-feet. This is the only engine offered with the GT, and it can be mated to either a four speed automatic or five speed manual transmission.
Considering the power upgrade, the cost in fuel efficiency here is minimal. The modest 2.4 liter base engine has an EPA estimate of 22/29 mpg, and the addition of the turbocharger brings it down to 21/27 mpg. GT drivers can expect 19/29 mpg with the automatic.
The GT adds features like 17-inch wheels, leather seats, and a sport-tuned suspension. Options include heated seats and an in-dash CD changer.

The GT model comes standard with keyless entry, a CD sound system with a portable device plug-in, air conditioning, full power accessories, and a power-folding top. A sport-tuned suspension, leather seating, and 17-inch wheels are unique to this model.
The GT uses the same 2.4 liter inline four cylinder engine as all other models, but a high-output turbocharger has been added. As a result, horsepower jumps from 150 to 230, and torque is bumped from 1664 to 245 pound-feet. Despite a huge power boost, the reduction to fuel efficiency is marginal. The automatic GT has an EPA estimate of 19/26 mpg, and the manual reaches up to 21/27.
