I recommend finding any truck in the 2007 -2010 Silverado line that did not spend its life in Wisconsin. These models did not fair well in the excessive salt Wisconsin puts on its roads. They are plenty of these models out there and are a great truck to own and work with. Many dealers import then from the southern states. I am and will but this model diesel truck for the simple reason of value for my money.

Great Working Truck Able To Carry And Haul Heavy Loads/ — Steering wheel intermediate shaft clunking. Known ongoing issue with Chev. Trucks. Clunk feel transmits through the steering column. It is the intermediate shaft lubrication and after some wear the plastic steering column bushing has a little play in it. Both are replaceable, but this is not always necessary, as there is nothing mechanically wrong with the steering, nor is there a safety defect.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: Good engine power and torque for the V-8 gas engine.  Four Doors make for good accessibility.   Great towing stability with heavy loads.
The 8' Long bed is great for carrying 10' Lengths of material that can hang over the tailgate when in the closed position. The 4-wheel drive engages without any noise or clunking. Normal traction is with a locking differential. Never driven in snow.

Cons: 1. Steering wheel intermediate shaft clunking. Known ongoing issue with Chev. Trucks.

2.  Front end suspension and steering geometry;   Long bed wheelbase has incredibly huge turning radius.  it is easy to run this truck up over inside curves on turns.   I used to drive three-axle trucks and never touched a curb!
Seats not that comfortable over time.   Fabric Upholstery wear premature.

Nice Truck! — This truck has head turning looks, yet would get the job done. Great towing capacity with gooseneck and bumper pull hitches. Always reliable never disappoints. The cab is roomy and very comfortable. Handles nice and is safe as they come.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Looks Great, Tows Great and as safe as you can get

Cons: Haven't found one yet

Great All Around Truck — Love the comfort, style and power. Nothing to dislike about this truck. It is a great vehicle for family outings like camping, etc. The kids are very comfortable in the spacious back seat. The front seats are more than expected in comfort as well. The sound system, being a Bose, is nice too. The teenagers love it.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: Great truck. Plenty of towing power.

Cons: Too long for my wife to comfortably drive to the store.

Great Tow Vehicle Not A Commuter Vehicle — It is classic General Motors truck styling, big Diesel power with out boost lag. Six speed automatic Allision transmission that has been proven in bigger rigs for decades. Turn key reliability without the head aches of regeneration and DEF fluid. The classic LBZ Duramax is the way to go for budget minded people who don't want and headaches.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: Big Power, great tow vehicle with resonable economy

Cons: rides like a tank with limited power steering assist.

Great Worker — I liked and enjoyed everything about this truck. I would keep it for a very long time if it got better fuel mileage. This mileage is only 17 miles per gallon and I need to have at least 25 miles per gallon because of my location.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: A good performer with a quiet ride, good suspension and average fuel/maintenance cost.

Cons: Fuel mileage is average

Another Great Chevy Truck! — I've had outstanding luck with my Chevy's! Although Ford & Dodge have some nice features on their trucks, after owning over 15 Chevy cars & trucks, I could never switch! This truck in particular, has been a great towing machine, and never has let me down. I can always count on it. I've used Mobil 1 Synthetic since new and run 5-7k on an oil change. It doesn't burn a drop of oil and it is always transparent on the dipstick. I'll be very surprised if it doesn't make 250+k

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: Lots of pros, but after 144k miles, only maintenance costs have been a rear brake job around 63k. This truck has been super-reliable & a great tower!

Cons: Car manufacturer's continue to lighten up their vehicles to improve on fuel mileage by using too much plastic & very light-gage sheet metal. Wish fuel mileage was 17+ mpg, but it easily averages 14-15.5 mpg on road trips, cruising around 75+ mph

Worth Buying — •Performance - great acceleration, great braking, and good handling •Build Quality - Driven and owned dodges and fords, never had something squeak/rattle so much. GM must improve! •Appearance - Love the way it looks! •Cost of Ownership - Get 10-12 city/country roads, 16-20 hwy, towing 8000lbs got 11.7 •Fun Factor - yes

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Looks Good and Drives Great!

Cons: Seats bother my back

Worth Every Penny — acceleration for a diesel is out of this world good, braking is solid but not great, handling is great, No repairs needed thus far. Looks sharp. fuel economy could be better but it is a 4wd 3/4 ton truck made to pull a house so it is what it is. fun ride to own...

Pros: Power is amazing, I can pull more than I will ever need to with this truck and has very comfortable ride

Cons: fuel tank is too small

Very strong reliable truck that always outperforms expectations. Only issue with any of the new diesels are the emissions. The emissions always kills the true potential of these trucks. Read More
