A Step Up For Bmw Engineering — Great overall car, practical and reliable. I was amazed how little the driver is involved with the car as it seems BMW engineers made the car for morons (typical of many toronto drivers). For example, you never have to check the oil, it does that for you by computers, same goes for tire pressure, and other aspects. Combined with the brake assist, and steer assist, it seems the term 'automatic' describes the whole driving experience and not just the transmission.

Pros: Well built, reliable, practical, solid

Cons: Rather boring performance, too many automatic features, makes the driver seem almost useless, which may be good for some, not for me...

Zip Zip Dang Power — very very very fast, glued to the road in corners, can be a car to take your grandma out in and also a track car.

Pros: POWER! Braking, interior, exterior

Cons: nothing

Its A Great Car To Pull My Motocross Bikes — Its a 2008 model bit more pokey then the 2007 model. Nice soft leather seats, 178bhp,diesel and goes for about 600 miles at 120mph. M sport package, i've had 153mph out of it so far

Pros: fast for a diesel
stunning inside
lots of boot room for my kit

Cons: not much room for rear passengers

Always A Good Car To Drive And Enjoy The Branded Look — As I said only the maintanence of the car is bit higher, other than that I love this car very much. This is my first car and will be my best car in my life. Driving and travelling in this car is very much safer when compare to other cars in the market.

Pros: Good car with execellent grip on all kind of roads and very safe to drive in all the places.

Cons: When it comes to maintanence it will be bit costly, since the parrts for BMW is high when compared to other cars.

The Show Stopper — This is an awesome and great looking car. If you are someone who likes to drive a car with lots of power then this is the Perfect choice. Compare this with other manufacturers in the same stream and I bet you will choose the 335I with 306 HP. Personally I feel that none can beat the style and power in this sector of cars and I always feel prod whenever i get into the car.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: 310 hp, the car fly's.

Cons: Not recommended to use in Snow

Fun, Sporty, But High Cost And Maintenance. — Overall: Great car, fun for a few years, very quickly got old when the miles built up and maintenance caught up to it out of warranty. Wouldn't recommend this car except to those obsessed with BMW/luxury cars. Performance: Two thumbs way up. Even with the base 230hp this car is fun to drive. Quality: Mixed bag. Car is solid and will run when cared for, but many parts are electrically integrated (e.g. water pump) and will fail after a period of time with little warning. It's absolutely critical to stay on the maintenance timeline. Be careful with off-brand parts too - stick to OEM. Appearance: It's a BMW. Maintenance: This is a bear and my biggest dislike. Realize when you buy a luxury car you will battle the impression that you are rich and naive about your car, and can be taken advantage of. Cost of ownership: Very high. Know what you're getting into.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Extremely fun to drive. Great power and acceleration for a base model/trim, very sporty suspension and heavy steering. Also very comfortable as a road trip vehicle for two, with great mileage on the highway (35+, well above EPA)

Cons: It's a BMW - which means high maintenance. Mechanics assume you have a lot of money and don't know about cars, which makes honest repairs difficult. Any job is expensive on parts alone, and good luck finding labor under $100 an hour. Also, relatively small back seat and cargo capacity - but not the intention of the 3 series.

Sleek Silver, Very Driveable, Powerful Bmw 335i — This car far beats my three prior cars: a 2001 Audi S4 (decent power, good on snow, but absolutely horrid repair costs after it hit 50k miles), a BMW 328 before that (very nice, but tame), and a 430 E-class Mercedes Benz (like riding a comfortable lounge chair with a high-powered engine). It has a perfect mix of comfort, luxury, technology, driving characteristics, and power.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: I can think of driving machines more "ultimate" than a 335i, but I can't afford them.  For its price range, especially used, this is truly an ultimate car for the aficionado (who also wants to have a back seat and a sufficient trunk).   It  handles beautifully.  I've used only a fraction of its raw horsepower.  Quiet inside, comfortable on trips of any length (great front power seats...In my prior car, an Audi S4, I used to get sciatic pains in the right leg on long trips. Not in this BMW with the sport seats).   Great safety features -- ABS disc brakes, handling, BMW Assist, airbags, solid construction, crumple zones (or so I'm told...haven't tested the safety features in any extreme situations).   Commuting?  I work at home, so I've never used it for the commuter grind, but it's comfortable and has a great Logic 7 sound system.  I gave "cargo capacity" a 4 out of 5, but that includes the rooftop rack.  The trunk is not small, but not large, either.

Cons: It will go in snow with chains, but it's not a very good car for snow and ice.  too much power; it's hard to press the gas pedal gently enough when roads are slick.  Too small for a family bigger than three.  Its space is fine for a two- or three-person trip using the trunk and roof rack to carry the stuff.

Maintenance costs: well, it's a luxury German car.  So if you take it to the dealer, be prepared for invoice shock.  However, I recently learned a great secret about highly computerized vehicles: get someone to read the computer codes with the BMW reader, and many DIY repairs are easy and inexpensive.

(Example: something called the DMTL Pump* went out of correct parameters.  A local shop correctly read the diagnostic code, but had no idea what it was.  They said to take it to the dealer....Well, that's 50+ miles away (35 of which is beautiful but take-it-slow mountain roads), and the dealer wanted $450 for the job, including $211 for the part, plus car rental, plus a lost day's work getting there and back.    It turned out (from reading Bimmerpost) that this is a 45-minute DIY job.  And the genuine BMW part was $120 including shipping online.)  Ditto with rear brake pads -- an easy DIY or local-shop job, costly at the dealer.

*It helps detect gasoline leaks.
