Good For New Familys — the XC90 is the perfect suv 4 europr because the car is small so its able 2 fit in the parking lots there. And it would fit a new family.

Pros: small. gets you where you need 2 go
good handling
GPS system good
Backing system

Cons: cramped
made before gas prices went up

Drove For A Year, Loved It! — I drove this car from January 2006-January of 2007. This was an extra car that my parents owned, and I enjoyed driving it for the time I did. Amazing handling, incredible gas mileage. Bought new Ford Fusion in 2007, but sometimes drive this car still.

Pros: Appearance, handling, gas mpg

Cons: Price, fit and finish

Nice Attempt, But ... — I tested this car before buying the 330i. You really gotta go for the T6 or, better: the 8-cyl engine, coz the rest sucks, especially the D5 diesel.

Pros: Good looking SUV

Cons: Real engines cost an arm & a leg

Safety, Size, Equipemnt, Flexibility And Power If Only The Fwd Had Some Grip !! —

Volvo are renowned for their safety and as far as i can tell the car delivers, big thick doors, DSTC aka traction control/dynamic stability and a few more in there anti rolling etc and the thing doesn't cut in to early or to late and is unobtrusive same goes with the EBD ABS it will let the wheels chirp just abit before either ABS or traction control cut in to save the day, airbags EVERYWHERE (and volvo's SIPS, side impact protection system) it is the only car in it's class to have airbags that cover the rearmost seats) and power a plenty (in the 5 cylinder turbo (intercooled) model) and the V8 is quicker again so no drama overtaking, the 5 speed gear box shifts nicely does though have a tendency to hunt for gears and with the turbo cutting in and out can make for some clunky gear changes and the manual mode gears are the wrong way around (push up/forwards for + and down/back for -), but it copes well enough. The engine sounds nice (5 cylinder is odd) however it isn't fantastic on fuel (I average around 16mpg however it is all city driving in LA traffic) and it has a small tank, meaning a small range, which means your always filling it up. It also has a rather large and oddly placed blind spot that take some getting use to , it is very well equipped auto headlights, auto wipers, dual zone climate control, sunroof, leather and rear parking sensors* option there are also alot of clever features such as heated side mirrors the outside glass is also coated with a film that repels water the recirculate (air in cabin) can be put on a timer, and the 7 seats can moved into any position imaginable great family car!

Ive owned a 2006 Volvo XC90 for quite some time now. The car is beautiful and very quiet. Has about 135k miles on it now. Although seats are amazingly comfortable, and the safety rating is amazing, the car is a large money pit. Lots of repairs, and theres always dash lights on. This is not a lemon, I have three XC90s, all from different years during the 2003-2014 first generation of the xc90. This is not the car for you if you like something cheap. However, if safety is paramount, then there is simply no alternative to the XC90.

"Despite the hondas low-end torque, it just simply cant keep up with the xc90 v8 at full throttle. The hondas 3.5 liter v6 produces 240 horsepower, while the volvos 4.4 liter v8 produces 311 horspower. "
