2006 Mazda MAZDA3 s Touring HatchbackReview

A Miata With A Dog Compartment. — Good power, amazing handling, terrific brakes, tons of cargo room, comfy ride, always-perfect steering effort, nice gearbox, very good headlights, cool styling inside and out, reasonably economical given that I drive like a maniac, base stereo ain't bad, nifty trip computer (yes, there's a hack to make it work even if you didn't pay for the GT).

Pros: Everything above.  Also it looks and feels expensive.

Cons: Too much road noise.  Not enough road feel through steering.  Less low-end torque than you'd expect from this much displacement.  Seat bottom is a little short and does not tilt up at the front.  Biggest beef is just that second gear is too tall---this makes for a 7.1 second 0-60 time 'cause you don't have to shift into 3rd to get to 60, and is nice for loafing around town without shifting, but when driving hard, acceleration briefly drops off a cliff in second unless you redline it in first.  I'd kinda prefer a slower car on paper in exchange for a faster one in the real world...give me a shorter second gear.

Love This Car. — Drove a standard model a few times and it's really a great little car. Fuel economy's great, handles fantastic, the softest clutch I've ever used. Great car.

Pros: Responsive

Cons: Chick-Car. :P

Great Car, Great Price, And Fun. Whats Not To Like. — The cars gas mileage is amazing for the pep this 2.3l 4 puts out. The ride and handling are great at descent speeds, just don't accelerate to fast in a corner it'll shudder trying to get traction.

Pros: Great.

Cons: None.

Balance Of Badassery And Economy. — It may not be the fastest car on the road, but it definitely has the pep it needs to hold its own. The balance between this pep and the fact that 35 mpg is not unattainable make this car ideal. Definitely a winner for less than $20k. The 3 is a small car for sure, but the hatchback has the room it needs. The maneuverability of this car is responsive and punchy. It does have a good deal of body roll but that just takes some getting used to.

Pros: Swift, Economical, Unique

Cons: Body Integrity Lacking, High End Acceleration
