With a 32-valve, 4.5-liter DOHC V8 engine and 5-speed shiftable automatic, the revamped 2006 Infiniti M45 Sedan puts out 335 hp and 340 ft-lbs of torque at 4,000 RPM. The rear-wheel-drive luxury sports sedan fits four comfortably, with a fold-down center armrest. Rear passengers get 37 inches of legroom, compared to the 44 up front. The trunk holds only 15 cubic feet, but comes with a net. Reclining rear seats can be added. The sedan rides on a fully independent double wishbone front and multilink rear suspension, built on Nissan's FM platform.
Luxury overflows in the 2006 M45 Sedan. Leather covers the seats, and leather and wood trim decorate the interior. Power front seats feature driver's memory settings. Full power features include push-button remote start and remote entry, and wheel-mounted controls for the cruise, Bluetooth, and audio systems. A 6-CD changer features MP3 playback, with the option to add satellite radio, rear audio controls, and a DVD player. A sunroof, power tilt and telescopic steering, heated mirrors, a trip computer, a tachometer and temperature display, a front power outlet, six cupholders, a first aid kit, and intermittent front wipers are also standard. The dash features electroluminescent gauges. Options add a rear spoiler, a navigation system, rear climate control, and climate-controlled seats.
The 2006 M45 Sedan earns a "good" rating from the IIHS, with such standard equipment as traction and stability control, a front and rear stabilizer bar, and 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution. Dual front-side airbags come with passenger deactivation. Side curtain bags cover both rows. The 18-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires have their own tire monitor. Lighting the way are automatic halogen headlights, foglights, and daytime running lights. An auto-dimming rearview mirror, rain-sensing wipers, and side mirrors with turn signals are also standard. Optional xenon lamps, adaptive headlights, adaptive cruise control, a lane departure warning system, and a rearview camera provide added security.
