Overall:

Great Value For The Money — Bought this car used for my daughter - it has turned out to be the most reliable, easy-to-keep car in the household. Has required just the minimum of maintenance in 150,000 miles. Quite comfortable on the highway and has adequate features even in the GL 2-wheel drive model.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Extremely reliable, reasonably comfortable very useful car - great deal for the money!

Cons: Drives too much like a truck..

2006 Hyundai Tucson GL 2WD Review
says:
I bought a 2006 Hyundai Tucson in 2017 for the low, low price of 2,688. It needed 2,300 and change worth of work, bringing the price to roughly 5,000. To be honest, I dont hate Seung Mina (the name i christened the little south korean machine) I mean, she can sprint (I got her to do 170 kph in the middle of nowhere.) shes a cousin of the Kia Sportage, a tough little rig. but shes not exactly desirable, unless she came with a 4wd (Any SUV without a 4wd is just a minivan trying to look tough) and even worse, shes an FWD. That might be better for driving in the snow (without snow tyres, i might add) but in repair costs, a FWD is a bit harder to work on than a RWD.

Power Ranked 1997 GMC Jimmy 4 Dr SLT 4WD SUV better.
"The engine in the Jimmy is larger, but that doesnt mean the Tucson cant give it a run for the money."
Handling Ranked 1997 GMC Jimmy 4 Dr SLT 4WD SUV worse.
"This comes down to the fact my Jimmy was a beater, and my tucson had brand new shocks installed, but even so, the Jimmys bigger, and the tucsons 2wd is FWD, giving it an easier stroke in handling."
Looks/Style Ranked 1997 GMC Jimmy 4 Dr SLT 4WD SUV better.
"This is a personal opinion. The Tucson looks like a cute, dainty korean girl, the Jimmy looks like its P90X, muscle shirt wearing boyfriend. If you want the cute vehicle, a tucson might suit you, but the Jimmy looks tougher, which suits its 4WD purpose. "
Front Seats Ranked 1997 GMC Jimmy 4 Dr SLT 4WD SUV better.
"Again, Leather interior for the Jimmy SLT, cloth for the GL."
Back Seats Ranked 1997 GMC Jimmy 4 Dr SLT 4WD SUV better.
"The space was a little bit better, and the SLT had a leather interior. "
Cargo Capacity Ranked 1997 GMC Jimmy 4 Dr SLT 4WD SUV better.
"The Jimmys got more cargo space. The Tucsons cargo space isnt far behind, though."
Family Car Ranked 1997 GMC Jimmy 4 Dr SLT 4WD SUV better.
"Its much cheaper, its older, The leather interior is easier for spill cleaning."
Value Ranked 1997 GMC Jimmy 4 Dr SLT 4WD SUV better.
"A 4WD that goes for less than the korean 2wd? is this really a debate?"
Would Buy Ranked 1997 GMC Jimmy 4 Dr SLT 4WD SUV better.
"No debate. I would buy a $2,000 97 GMC Jimmy again over the 06 Hyundai Tucson. It was cheaper, more fun to drive, it was more luxurious and the stock CD deck, which was older, Actually worked, even with burned CDs. The Tucsons newer, stock CD player struggled out of the gate to read CDs, and after 6 months i replaced it with a Bluetooth stereo. (Hyundais stock Stereo is also a problem with my moms 06 Santa Fe.)"
