My Favorite Car — I like everything about this car but the braking system. I just bought it so it may just need new pads. I am the second owner of this car and some minor repairs need to be done but I really love it so far. Any tips on which kind of muffler to put on it are appreciated!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Awesome power- very comfortable-looks great with the chrome wheels and the tinted windows.

Cons: Braking seems to be off

Used As A Daily Driver To And From Work. —

Fast car, built great but with small problems. The cost of ownership such as maintenance and gas isnt all that impressive unless you use it as a highway only car. VERY fun to drive, amazing pick up and will turn most men into giggling girls. I also need to add that with 06 charger's there is a EXPENSIVE fix with the shifter that can be done by almost anyone that has a screw driver. If your shifter wont allow you to come out of park, its time to start tearing that part of the shift apart. It only takes a few moments to pull out the cup holder *in the center* and to undo a few screws. Dodge developed this car with full intentions of forcing the consumer to have to go to their garages to fix stupid crap. Once you have the shift apart, you can literally reach down into it and use a finger to compress a switch, which will allow you to pull the shifter out of park etc. You will notice there is a HOT PINK colored piece of plastic down in the shifter. It is attached to attached to a HIGH tension spring that will snap a tiny piece of that plastic off, and render your car useless until fixed. If you take it into a dealership, they will charge u close to 300.00+. You can buy an ALUMINUM replacement online that wont break and change it yourself for 14.00-24.00 depending on where u find it online. One of many stupid ideas DODGE has done to force a consumer into their dealership to force repairs.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fast, beautiful

Cons: Gas Mileage, Maintenance

Great Car For The Money — A real head turner and an unusually good all around vehicle. For the money, it cannot be beaten. Great when driving slow and even better when asked to run. Almost seven years now and with 47000 miles still as distinctive as ever. I rather like it better than the newer Charger to be honest. A set of tires and rear brakes and that is all maintenance wise. GREAT CAR!

Owner for 2 years, 0 months

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Miles Driven per Year:9,000

Pros: Power, braking, handling, room and exclusivity of only 4,000 produced

Cons: Fuel mileage, BUT that is expected

Very Nice Car! —

Only had the car for less than a week, so I don't know about the Reliabilty or the maintenance costs, but everything else is five Stars! Only exception is the rear seats. I am 6'5", so my drivers seat is pretty much all the way to the rear. Doesn't leave much room for the passenger behind me. Luckily my daughters are small enough to still be confortable. :) I bought the car used with 14K miles on it. I knew it had some minor electrical problems when I bought it, but I'm working on those. (See "Cons" above for more recent additions) The car handles great. The steering is very smooth. The sound of the car is amazing, and gets turned heads all the time! The car is powerful. When I want to burn rubber, I have no doubt that I can. Even times when I'd rather not (ie cop right behind me) it still does at times. But that's just driver error. I am still getting used to a Charger Daytona Hemi, vs my old Magnum v6. :) The look is great, and the car itself, just owning it, has peaked my interest in automotive. I now find myself in Napa, and other car stores, shopping for parts just because. I just bought new 20" rims and brand new tires for the car, so the looks has just improved even more than it already was, and the handling should improve too. The braking is a little mushy, but that may be the case that I need to replace them. Even when breaking traction, I still felt in control of the car, and can handle J-turns, etc. fluidly. Nothing that I don't love about this car yet. I'm sure the maintenanc costs will be a little bit high, as it's not your average family car, but that was expected when I bought it. All in all, I am looking forward to owning this car!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Very Sleek look, GREAT power, Excellenet handling

Cons:
Interior noise is higher than your average car, due to the engine. I believe that my tailpipes are whole, and that the noise is solely from the Hemi engine. With windows up and sunroof closed, it's not as bad, but still loud.

Cars 'R Us - Tacoma, Wa are scammers and will knowingly sell you a lemon. They will faudulantly sell a car with a "clean" Carfax report, even though they know it WAS in an accident. Beware when buying cars from them. Questions about the carfax? Contact me, I'll tell you all about their scam.

The Luxury Muscle Sedan Feel —

I give this Charger a 5 out of 5 on everything. For it's size and weight (4160 LBS) it has pretty good acceleration/power. I definitely love the looks of it but then again this one is the Daytona R/T not just the regular R/T. I haven't had to get anything fixed yet so I can't really comment on maintenance costs. Both the back and front seats have plenty of room and are extremely comfortable, the leather with suede inserts definitely give it that luxury muscle car feel. Extremely reliable, I haven't had a problem with it yet. It is a 4D sedan, so it is definitely a family car but at the same time it is a performance car that is fun to drive. For a car weighing 4,160 LBS I would say it gets really good gas mileage especially since it has a 5.7L V8 in it. For me compared to other cars in it's class it is the best bang for the buck. The cargo room is pretty impressive it has a really big trunk, it doesn't look nearly as big as it actually is just looking at the car without the trunk open. The handling on the car is pretty darn impressive even in rain and snow, it can turn and stop on a dime with out fish tailing or skidding. I would definitely recommend the Charger R/T Daytona to anyone looking for a powerful sports sedan.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: The power/fuel economy

Cons: Maybe the weight but that is a real maybe.

Suburban Musle Car — I purchased the 2006 Dodge Charger RT new in 2006 and I have to say it has treated me well over the years it just turned 100,000 and still runs and looks great. I am pleased the charger has held up so well, I'm not easy on it. Great acceleration and braking the car handles hard corners so well for a big vehicle it is hard to believe. After all these years I still enjoy driving the Charger.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Power and the Hemi sound is great, handles well for a large car and looks good. If you keep your foot out of it the gas milage is good 23 MPG highway.

Cons: Front suspension control arms have given me fits.

Big But Nimble — Has an incredibly comfortable interior, a compliment heard from passengers all the time. Despite its size it is very nimble. Despite being an 06, it still turns heads and has a presence... since installing the aggressive exhaust system. Traction control is fantastic, very impressive on its reliability. There is slight hesitation when the car attempts to accelerate after shifting to Drive from Reverse. When in "auto-stick" mode the computer will not allow the engine to red line which does limit performance at times. For anyone interested in a car with a unique design, comfortable and powerful acceleration, this is definitely the car for you!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Unique, sexy appearance, comfortable interior, great lines, great traction control.

Cons: Auto-stick doesn't allow redlining, sometimes hestitates when going from Reverse to Drive.

2006 Dodge Charger SE RWD Review
Stephen says:
I got a 2006 Dodge Charger SE back in late July this year. (Traded in a 2000 Ford Mustang as part of down payment as well.) Let me say, this car handles like a beaut., at a somewhat understandable price point of $4800 with a $200 note. It rides incredibly smooth on most roadways, decent amount of power, exceptional handling, meh braking, and a chariot amount of room. For the base model, the SE trims come with a 3.5 liter V6 Chrysler engine with a factory claimed 250 HP and 250 pounds of torque. This car can get up to interstate speeds in seconds. The steering is very responsive.. maybe a little too responsive at times, but its narrow turning radius is great on sharp turns. Braking is not very good. (That might be because I probably need new brake pads since the previous owner.) The brakes are sometimes stiff, and it feels like it drags the rear end of the Charger in certain situations. Now, please get me started on the room.. oh my lord. While the head room is not the best for tall people, like my brother, it has an absolutely amazing amount of legroom. The trunk is also huge, and can be expanded upon in certain trims that allow the owners to lower the back seat. Overall, most of the problems I have had with this car stem from previous owners, (I believe there were 6 previous owners before me.) Id give this car a 7.5/10 any day of the week.

Handling Ranked 2000 Ford Mustang Convertible RWD worse.
"The steering in the Mustang wasnt bad, it was pretty responsive. But the steering in the Charger just feels much better, and is way more responsive."
Back Seats Ranked 2000 Ford Mustang Convertible RWD worse.
"There was far more leg room in the Charger than in the Mustang. The Charger also comes with a bench seat, as compared to the Mustangs.. buckets? It was also very crunched up in the back of the Mustang, since the roof was at the lowest point there. "
