The LT is the upper-level of the two trim options for Chevy's small SUV. Additional features at this level include alloy wheels, fog lights and a higher quality cloth upholstery. Heated cloth seats are now available as an option on this trim, along with OnStar, a power driver's seat, an upgraded MP3-compatible audio system and leather upholstery.
The Equinox has earned very high crash test and safety marks across the board, and this upper-level LT trim also comes equipped with traction control.
Fuel economy estimates are the same for both drive trains, estimated at 18/23 mpg. Maximum towing capacity is 3500 pounds.

The LS is the entry-level trim in the 2006 Equinox lineup, but it offers most of the comfort and convenience essentials. Standard features include air conditioning, a height-adjustable driver seat, cruise control, a six-speaker CD stereo, automatic headlights and full power accessories. OnStar and satellite radio are options.
While the Equinox has earned very high crash test and safety marks across the board, shoppers should note that the LS does not come equipped with traction control. Otherwise, the LS trim offers buyers the most affordable route to owning this spacious and versatile small SUV.
Chevy's part time AWD system does not affect fuel efficiency; all Equinox styles have an EPA estimate of 18/23 mpg.
