Good Solid Car Alround. — Mine is a 1.6 and is a bit under powered. Very reliable though and build quality is good. After 7 years it still looks modern both inside and out. Cheap car to run. No real problems over the years. It is mainly a family car and a general runabout, feel good factor is good for model.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Reliability and looks.

Cons: Nothing.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: Performance- acceleration- excellent.

Cons: none

A Competant Car That Goes As Well As It Looks —

The SRI 3 door is a great looking car with (supposedly) the most powerful diesel engine in it's class (1.9CDTI 150ps), which I can confirm it is fast. It's 0 to 60 is decent, with good pull in all gears, and keeps pulling in 6th well over legal limits, There is excellent acceleration if you keep it in the rev range of the where the turbo kicks in. The Sport button does add extra and crisper acceleration, but don't expect it to change the feel of the car. Hard acceleration can cause torque steer, and the car can follow ruts in the road. Breaking is best described as good. The car can become a little squirmy and will ABS kicks in quickly under heavier breaking. The SRI Handles well though the corners. Throw into the bend and it will turn in, although under steer is inevitable if pushed too hard in this front wheel drive. You can feel what the what the wheels are doing through the steering wheel, although it is still a little too numb. It doesn' handle as good as the focus, and is no go kart, but is entertaining. The Astra is better build quality over my previous cars, but does suffer niggles. AC packed in ages ago. The SRI is a very good looking car with or without the optional body kit. Inside is stylish although a bit too conservative. It has a useful spec list. Good use is made of the glasses holder.Space is not an issue with plenty in the back and for a few bodies in the boot. One thing I will say is that storage cubby holes are nil, and the lack of front drink holders is criminal in this sort of 'family' car The seats look very good, and comfortable, but not as supportive as the focus. The recline and sliding mechanism is a terrible design as it doesn't remember its position once you move it, which is not good for the driver. The 1.9 CDTI offers good fuel economy even if you are not careful with the right foot. No problem getting 43 around town. If you tickle it you can get 57 on a run. I think group 12 insurance is a little high though.

Pros: Looks, Power, Fuel economy

Cons: Storage compartments and no drink holder, Torque steer, Insurrence group

Astra 1.6 Sxi — For a 1.6 liter petrol engine it produced a fair but of power. Alsv i bought and added a K&N Air Filter Induction Kit. I never had any problems while i owned the car. I really liked the styling and made it even better with after market Irmscher styling parts and Mudflaps. It was a cheap car to run. It was a great drive.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Fun and relatively cheap to run.

Cons: Nothing

Good All Rounder — good all round every day car, good performance and economy, has never let me down, nothing that servicing hasn't sorted out. Ownership is ok but its a very common car, so don't expect to be noticed in it. It is fun to drive and surprisingly quick for a 1,7 diesel.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Fuel economy

Cons: only its common

Nice, But Wouldn't Have One If Money Was No Object!! — Sensible mum car, sport model so not too dead basic, not really me but it does.! Front suspension seems bit noisy when going over speed bumps, big boot, loads of room in back for the kids and they even have a window each to open, new novelty in mums car!! Hard to find in car park as boring colour, cheap on tax, insurance. Ok all in all.

Pros: Gets me from A to B I guess

Cons: No reason to avoid this car

My 1.6i Design — Got the design spec here, which means auto lights, wipers, a/c, leather seats .. etc.. great kit for a family hatch. the only downside of the car is the performance, although it pulls well on motorways, the 1.6 petrol engine lacks overall power when accelerating in the mid rev-range. build quality is very good, which is unusual for a vauxhall, but recent cars from them seem to suggest that vauxhall have sorted their act togeather! I'm getting roughly around 40mpg on motorway trips, which is very good for a petrol, and servicing costs will of cource be cheep, aswell as insurance. The car is actually very good to drive, the engines are refined and smooth, and quite quiet even on motorways. handels very well

Pros: build quality, looks, cost of ownership

Cons: badge

Vauxhall Astra Sporthatch 1.6 Sxi 2005 Silver — Performance - Was not that good, it was a 1.6 SXI model, with 105bhp, still took over 10 seconds to get to 60. Build Quality - Had a problem with all the cloth seat stitching coming away, however replaced under warranty which was not bad, however didnt keep it long enough to find out if it would go again. Had the car from 7k Miles to 50K Miles and nothing else went or needed replacing. Appearance - Simply stunning! Costs - Averaged about 50mph which is a great plus for a petrol engine, insurance was cheap too, only group 6 Fun - Very fun especially with the sound system i had in.

Pros: Appearance

Cons: Performance
