My Toy — nice little truck wish it was black. needs a little more leg room but lots of power for a small truck. want like to put some big tires and a lift so i can go mudding and make it good for hunting with. Would like to put a front bumper

Pros: lots of power

Cons: needs more leg room and make the roof about 2in. higher

Part Deux — This was another great Toyota pickup. Bigger than the 2000 & 2001 version I had, this model came with a 5-speed automatic transmission (claimed to get better gas mileage than with the 6-speed manual) and 4.0L engine. Got a little over 18mpg over the life of the vehicle. This replaced my Integra, but that wasn't the best move for me. I realized I like driving cars more than I like driving trucks (as a daily driver) so I sold the truck and bought an Integra again. This time it was a 1993, but I soon realized that I was also a big fan of the seatbelt/airbag combination, so sold that one for a 2000 Integra GSR. Ideally, I would have a car as a daily driver and the truck as a "backup". That's what I have now - it's perfect.

Pros: Only had it for 10k miles, but it was a great, trouble-free truck.

Cons: None.

If I Was A Truck Person, I Might Drive This Forever — Better fuel efficiency than some cars. Very reliable. When I have it serviced, the only thing they find to fix on it is adding more windshield washer fluid.

Pros: Reliable, great gas mileage for a truck

Cons: I'm not really a truck driving type of person. The 4 cylinder engine "won't pull the hat off your head" as Dad would say.

Roof Noise — I wrote toyota canada about the roof noise when it is raining and the thin roof material in the head liner. My truck sounds like someone is hitting the roof with a hammer when it rains hard. They stated that they would not fix this unless there were more compliants as they had only 6 to date. What is the situation with other owners?

Overall:

Best Truck I've Owned So Far — Again, one of my most favorite features in the Tacoma is it's 265 hp motor. The handling is also pretty nimble for a truck - and I own the Double-Cab Prerunner. The back seats are roomy, and can take a car seat in the middle and still seat two adults on either side comfortably. I've had two car seats in the back, but the middle seat gets a bit squishy.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: The first thing I noticed when I got behind the wheel of this new generation Tacoma was the power in the motor.  There is more than enough power for hauling your family or a trailer around.  I've towed a car and you don't even notice a loss of power in the motor, you only feel sort of heavy when braking.

Cons: You can hear some wind noise when you sit in the front.  Aerodynamics?  Who cares, it's a truck.
