Fun Car While It Lasted — Handling is sluggish due to poor chassis selection, nothing braces and sway bars can't help. Acceleration destroys everything else in it's price class (Civic EX, Cobalt LS) and is constantly compared to $20-25k sports cars. I hydrolocked the engine and bent a rod, so it's dead and waiting for a rebuild.

Pros: Roomy, comfortable, great value for the price, reliable, aftermarket support

Cons: Rattles, weak chassis, no LSD from the factory

Sick With Turbo! — You buy it for the value, and then you find that it's very easy to tinker with all over, so you can't keep your hands off it. Pretty soon you're dumping all kinds of money into it for FUN. So be careful!!

Pros: Easy to work on, peppy engine to begin with. Fantastic "stock" car.

Cons: Could be a little lighter, suspension is a little meh.

Early Scion Tc — I purchased this car new in '04. It has snappy acceleration and pretty good handling for the price. I recently purchased some Yokohama H4s tires and they improved the handling and smoothness significantly. Some of the interior pieces are not put together well, and there are some creaks from the plastic pieces. Some of the trim in the hatch has begun to fall off, and there is significant hatch oscillation with the windows down.

    Pros: Quick, Fun, Gas Mileage.

Cons: Hatch is weak.  Shoddy trim.

    Inexpensive Stock Rocket —

My wife and I bought a used 05 tC last year with 19k on it. We just love the car. So far we have put another 25k on it and the only problem so far has been caused by the dealer. We brought it in for a recall on the sunroof and afterwards it developed a pretty good rattle and whistled like a banshee. Then a screw broke off leaving the whole thing loose. Upon inspection I discovered a tool had been left in there, rolled around and jammed everything up. The entire roof has since been replaced and so far is working just fine. The car is very quick and agile with the 5 speed ( I think if you go for the automatic you may as well just get the Camry). I ran neck and neck with a new Mustang from 60 to 115, but we ran out of road and I never got to 5th gear. I have buried the speedo at 140mph. The seats are comfortable, the stereo is good and there is an amazing amount of room if you need it and fold down all the seats. I hope it lasts as long as my 69 Corolla.

Tc Rs — the car is great, runs awesome, handling is great, the gear box is smooth. its a fun little car. i wouldnt get it automatic though. stick shift makes it so much fun. the only thing toyota missed out on is that they shouldve put a 6 gear manual transmition instead of a 5.. the 2.4 the car has, has enough power to handle that extra gear.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: the looks. toyota did a great job with the RS..

Cons: its a two door.. and it should really have a 6th gear.
