The SLK350 got a complete makeover in 2005, giving it "sports car flair" that had been lacking in prior versions of the famed sports roadster. Specifically, it had a wider stance, an elongated hood and a prominent three-pointed star snout that lends it the appearance of "a baby SLR."
A surprising feature was the amount of cargo space offered by the two-seater's trunk. A shelf could be moved when the top was up for added cargo space, but even with the top down there was more than enough trunk space for a weekend getaway.
Beauty was also found on the inside. The 2005 model got a 53 point horsepower jump to 268. The 24-valve, 3.5-liter V6 served up 258 feet of torque.

When the 2005 SLK55 AMG arrived in U.S. Mercedes-Benz showrooms in November 2004, the car was an instant hit. It was a classic, two-seat roadster capable of going from zero to 60 miles per hour in 4.7 seconds and had the added bonus of the AMG seal.
AMG is Mercedes' high performance arm. The division makes race cars fit for road use, and each car is issued as a limited edition, adding to its exclusivity.
The 2005 SLK55 AMG had a newer, slicker shifting gear box that was an immediate hit with drivers. A V8 engine upped the horsepower to 355 from the 268 found in the standard, V6 variety of the SLK.
