2005 Jeep Liberty Sport 4WDReview

2005 Jeep Liberty Sport, 4wd, Trail Rated — Basically a stock Liberty with a set of pirelli scorpion sires, something i picked up that is a little more practical to drive than my truck and dart. gets about 21 MPG and does great offroad and in the snow, perfect little "grown up" vehicle to suppliment my other two rides. Pros: decent gas mileage, nice 4WD capabilities, can haul 5 people. Cons: electronic locking rear differential doesnt engage in reverse, making backing up in moderate offroad/snow conditions tricky ![]() Looking for a Used Liberty in your area?CarGurus has 1,787 nationwide Liberty listings starting at $1,500. |

This Is A Truck! — Very bumpy when driving. I have always wanted a TJ or YJ and knew that these would be rough. I did not expect this from a road driver. This car likes to drink gas, I get about 350 - 400km to 70 L. This was designed by the gas companys. Pros: Looks cool! reliable and guttzy off the line. Cons: the seats stain like crazy. Trunk is too small |

Strong Engine But Too Loud In Cockpit — A fairly average vehicle in every respect, good engine behaves well on the road but what really lets this car down is comfit and the horrid noise of the 2.7CRD engine it like a tractor after about 15-20mins it really get on your nerves, needs more sound insulation alot more. Pros: Strong engine, road manners Cons: Engine noise, Comfit, Dash board |

Its Basic But Macho? — It so simple that its kinda outa date. You'll never use the light bar because its not street legal. All jeeps actually have about 10 less mpg than the actual ratings, so i get like 10 mpg. its got way too much head room, and ride quality is normal. Pros: Sexy Cons: Low mpg |

Review 2005 Jeep Liberty Limited - 4wd — Overall this rating of this jeep is excellent in the performance and handling area, and it continues to run strong even being over 10 years old. And I cant forget about the 2wd/4wd, which was very convenient when it came to a snowy day. Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: The seating is comfortable, and handles very well in snow, and overall. The gas mileage was better than expected 20 highway, and our repairs costs have been low. It is a very fun car to drive but still have the jeep safety check. Cons: The gas mileage, but with gas prices being low, we didn't see the impact. |

A Fun Car To Drive — this car is fun to drive. it's no powerhouse, though. gas mileage on highway is pretty decent. 20 - 24 mpg. gas mileage in town is pretty terrible 13 - 15 mpg great looking little buggy overall body and paint hols up well. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: fun to drive. can park it almost anywhere easily Cons: city gas mileage, front seat should be longer |

Capable & Comfortable Compact Suv — Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, still a Jeep at heart. Exterior appearance changes in 2005 include a new front fascia, grille, fender flares and body side moldings. Interior upgrades include relocated power window switches, new instrument panel cluster graphics and trim bezels and improved seat comfort. The Liberty handles really easy, it is a safe ride and has a good bit of power with the 3.7L v6 Sport model. It is fun to drive and take to the mountains. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: In Colorado it is nice to have a 4x4 that does break the wallet. Highway driving about 23mpg, great compaired to my old Xterra. It handles great and has great pick up. It's also roomy and great for road trips. Cons: Well like I said, it is not a car. Gas engines are rather thirsty at the pump compaired to a car. and it does have less cargo space than some of its competitors. |

I'll Buy Another Jeep — I bought my Jeep new in February, 2005. The only issue I had was the AC went out at around 120,000 miles. I recently lost my Jeep (with 149,000 miles) to ice & a guardrail. Even though I bounced off the guardrail, flipped on my (driver's) side and slid spinning about 30 feet before flipping back upright, the engine never stopped running. I turned it off and walked away with a few bruises. For that reason alone, I am now looking for another Jeep. Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: Size, Safe, Reliable, Low Cost (never needed any repairs, just routine maintenance) Cons: The AC went out at around 120,000 miles. The cloth seats stain very easily. |
