The Beast Hidden Below The Suburbia's Daddy Commuter. — This dodge has a governed feel when it comes to race-accelerating, with about a 10 second 0-60. Off-road, with my awesome tires, is great. Longer wheel base compared to other climbers though. Build quality is excellent, requiring vurtually no repairs, and very little maintenance. Fun to drive for sure, second only to if I owned the manual transmission version of this truck....

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: This is the best truck next to a brand new Cummins!

Cons: Fuel economy is about 12.8, improved to 18mpg or so 5 model years newer.

*please Do Not Buy A Truck If You Cannot Keep It In Your Lane* —

performance is outstanding... i have the 5.7 liter HEMI and i love leaving people in my dust! the acceleration is amazing for a truck of its size, and braking is outstanding. the handling is ok - exactly what you would expect of a pick-up, however, i cannot say how the 4wd measures up. it seems tricky to maneuver, but it is not. you can get the hang of it in no time. build quality is great! very well built, very strudy, very... american! i have not needed any repairs, however there is a slight wind noise on the driver's side. not quite sure why, i have examined the driver's side and found nothing to indicate a need for repair, but it is easy to live with... had a couple of paint issues, but it goes hand in hand with the load you put in the bed... hopefully they will develop a better paint to withstand the bumps and scrapes expected to occur in a truck bed... appearance is nice... i personally like the look of the newer models better (hopefully will be trading up soon!) because it seems to me the design of this truck was a futile attempt at sleekness, which takes away from the spirit of the truck! trucks are mean, rugged, intimidating - just how i like it! so the newer models make the grade on that aspect... interior is very nice, very spacious, very comfortable. guages and meters are easily read and compatrments are within reach from the drivers seat (and that is coming from a pretty small driver!) cost of ownership is a bit of hit. fuel economy is very low, especially when towing and hauling. the difference in gas mileage should not be so great under different uses of the truck... insurance is a good price, and financing was not too bad. maintenance is up and down, parts are not expensive, but fluids, belts, and tires really are! this car incredibly fun to drive! it demands acknowledgment and respect on the road... it has power (i spanked a bmw x5!) and a large cab so your friends can come along for the ride! not to mention, it also doubles as a fort for my 7 year old son and my 8 & 5 year old little sisters :) they spend hours playing in the bed and climbing through the back window into the cab... everone loves this truck!

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: i originally got the truck as, believe it or not, a family car. i did not want a suv, but i wanted a large car that could protect my family in case of an accident. not only does it comfortably sit 6 (we have had 8), but it feels so much safer... and we never have to rent a uhaul :)

Cons: we have towed everything from jetskis, to boats, to trailers on this truck and it performed wonderfully.

Should Buy One! — preformance was great...Not many sneaks and rattles. I loved the look of the dodge rams this year...Gas mileage wasnt too bad for a truck, but power was there...haul anything! Overall a great truck for pleasure or work.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: powerful...and good looking

Cons: a little too small...

My Heavy Hauler — man this is my 3rd Dodge ram. had a 1996-1999 and now this one. THis truck does it all for me. pulls boats and jet skis. hauls all the building supplies I can throw into it. Has hauled well over it's weight limit without even breathing hard. weather it be the engine or supension. Buy another one Dang stright I would.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: hauls everything I need and then some.

Cons: handling and braking

Great Performing Enigne — great truck to have fun in and a great truck for the off road /sport truck enthusiast and for those who want to mod it to their liking so many options. also not for the person looking to save money on gas.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: the engine is amazing especially when you have it tuned like mine i have roughly 380hp and its a lot of fun

Cons: gas mileage

Great Vehicle, If You Have Regular Need To Tote Or Tow Stuff — Great riding truck. Much better MPG than the EPA ratings. I get between 19 and 24MPG highway depending on how much up and down driving there is. Fully loaded towing the Volare' the mileage is more like 15MPG. Only a small bit of trouble going up steep grades fully loaded and towing the Volare'. It regulary averages 17MPG combining highway, city and heavy traffic in the DC area. Had no trouble getting to work, 25 miles away, in the recent snow storms. We use the RAM as our family vehicle and is our vehicle of choice for road trips. There is room for us, our stuff, our big dog (great dane/black lab mix) and plenty of extras.

Pros: Very comfortable, smooth ride with great handling

Cons: Fuel consumption

Primary Use: Commuting to work

I'd Say It Was An Average Vehicle, But I Didn't Care For It. — If I had been more comfortable handling a larger vehicle while I owned it, I think I would have appreciated it more. As it was, I didn't enjoy it much. Fortunately, I was not the primary driver, though I did own it. It was a very basic model, no extras except a CD player. It was not a comfortable vehicle to operate for a long period of time. The rail on one side of the bed came off with normal use of the vehicle, which was disappointing. On the other hand, I did get a killer deal on it. Also, it was a pretty truck. Even the smallest engine in that year's model (which I had) was enough to do some hauling, which I did. No truck gets great gas mileage, but this one wasn't too bad. Low to mid 20's on the highway if it was empty. I guess I'm just not much of a truck person.

Pros: It was descent at hauling and didn't break the bank.

Cons: Not comfortable, non-mechanical parts felt cheap and did come apart on me.
