2005 Chevrolet Classic FWDReview

Vehicle Was A Good Buy. — I was looking for a sturdy vehicle with good fuel economy. It's 4-cyc engine gets more than 30 mpg. Acceleration is about right for this engine type, but I was more interested in fuel economy on the highway. The vehicle was at 35,000 miles when I purchased it; it is now at 170,000 miles. I have done the front brakes, once and replaced a few sensors with nusaince warnings. There have been no major repairs required so far. For the most part, it goes to the shop for a sticker or oil change. At about 180,000 miles, a sensor on the transaxle went bad and affected the operation of the transaxle. Rather than break down the existing transmission to swap the sensor with the risk of another of the four sensors failing, the shop found a used, but fairly new, tranaxle at a cost of about $1700. The vehicle is still running well at 200,000 miles. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Good fuel economy, runs great. Cons: Don't like ABS brakes. |
