I Like It — never misses a beat. No problem- when i think about trading it in for a saloon it will rain or snow and then it cannot be beaten. Less footballers wives than an X5 , more reliable than a rangerover sport. average 30mpg so for of a car of its size and stature it is ok

Pros: bulletproof

Cons: quite thirsty

Aaron's Vw Touareg Review — I would not recommend the 2004 VW Touareg to my friends...however, the SUV performs very well on the road and has a fine finish. The Touareg has an agressive stance on the road. It's been reliable all 76k miles, but has some issues with trim durability (covered under warranty earlier in ownership) not to mention the tire pressure sensor has been out for months...I dread the dealer! Oh yes, the brakes are amazing, but pads have been replaced three times at $700 a pop. I won't replace the VW but will go sportier soon.

Pros: Great on the road

Cons: Annoying little problems keep me going back to the dealer

A Luxury Suv From Vw? — We know VW as the peoples car, but recently they have moved upmarket with the Phaeton and now the Touareg. same car as Porsche Cayenne v6 except for styling. Both built in the Porsche factory in Zuffenhausen Germany. Rival cars, BMW X5, Mercedes M class, Cayenne, Land Rover Discovery, etc.

Pros: Very good car, Great engine. Never cheap but great deal used.

Cons: Rear visibility. VW is no longer a peoples car. Expensive new.

Super Power House With Sporty Feel — This thing drives like a car with the air ride suspension. It has plenty of power for towing, and it has great off-road abilities with the locking differential and the adjustable ride height. The interior is plush with plenty of amenities.

Pros: Too many to list.

Cons: can't think of any yet.

Touareg (love It) — I'm a VeeDuber for life because of the Touareg - An off-road vehicle that could handle as a sports car. Call me preppy, i even bought my wife the Touareg's cousin the Audi Q7. Both SUV's are built out of the same factory in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Pros: Quick at any speed 310hp v8, gorgeous lines and curves, versatile SUV with fully capable rear and center differential and 19" range air suspension, and luxurious fit and finish inside with firm leather seats and ample standard accessories.

Cons: 16mpgs, not an intuitive Navigation System, expensive long-term maintenance - 80k checkup requires new timing belt at approx $1500 labor and parts.

Luxury And Realism Combined — After owning and looking at several vehicles, I found the Touareg to be a fantastic blend of handling and luxury with that german finish. The interior appointments are some of the finest in the industry. The exterior styling not only, in my opinion, is fantastic but also useful. The overhangs are short for more front and rear clearance, but the base ground clearance (without airt susp.) works for the vehicle. It isn't too high that the vehicle feels like it going to tip when taking it for one of those brisk drives, but just right. High enough to have more than average gropund clearance and excellent road performance for a sport utility vehicle. Overall the fit, finish, and performance have been fantastic. I have had absolutly no problems with my vehicle either, so I would have to say the reliability is fantastic too

Pros: Superior offroading prowess
+ Strong V-8 and V-10 TDI performance
+ All-terrain maneuverability
+ Safety features
+ Towing capacity

Cons: Tiny auxiliary gauges
- Demanding 4WD controls

Great Suv, Very Solid And Stable — Great price/value relationship, it is loaded with features like tilting passenger side rear view mirror when you put it in revers so you won't hit the curb backing up, folding side rear view mirrors, OnStar, all time 4 wheel drive, leather, both passenger and driver seats are power adjustable. Overall a great SUV which I have enjojed for 3 1/2 years

Pros: Great handling, lots of room in the front and back as for the cargo area, lots of features that add a lot of confort to your ride

Cons: CD Player is useless, I needed to replace it the first time around since it "swallowed" my AC/DC Back in Black CD; the new one that they replaced it with does the same thing; roof rack is a piece of crap; tyre pressure warning is annoying, it tells that you have a FLAT TIRE when it goes a little low, I had to replace the 4X4 twice; it has a "fogging" issue with the AC and the condensation that creates at the bottom of the windshield which impares the driving visual; the rear AC vents in the columns as well as the main rear vents really don't blow much air making the rear passengers feel uncomfortable in those hot summer days.

I Do Still Love The Touareg, It Drives Nicely And Handles Well As Long As I Drive Like A Granny! — Please see my comments below, in addition, I first fell in love with this vehicle years ago in a test drive. I love the way it looks and it handles like a large car and not a top heavy truck. It's truly a VW because it rides a lot like my 2000 Jetta, only in larger size. I'm bias to VWs but I have been disappointed as I said before in VW not responding to the need to review and/or recall this transmission issue of the Touareg.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: I have wanted a VW Touareg since the were introduced in the early 2000's but I had a Jetta at the time, that I still have and love, but couldn't afford to have two cars to pay for at the time.

Cons: Now that I have sought, found and bought this older model Touareg (my first used purchase ever), I regret not taking more time to see if there were any complaints.  I actually didn't find any complaints before I purchased.  Long story short - the transmission is Jacked Up!  I have recently found complaints where other owners have been having the exact same issue with this surging and then banging into 1st gear & delayed responses from the transmission.  The vehicle does not accelerate the way that it should, unless you are very, very light on the gas from a stopped position.  It has been a concern for me even more now that I have changed from catching the train to driving in to work (about an hour each way) and with having to merge on to the beltway, I can never get the speed up to what it should be in a reasonable amount of time without feeling the violent jerking and banging of the transmission delay and hesitation.  I'm actually afraid to drive this vehicle now and am looking into trading it wtihin the next 12 months.  GMC and Subaru are at the top of my list for a truck from now on.

It Is A Great Family Car. Secure And Stable Ride. — There is really nothing to dislike about this car except the cost of maintenance. As for likes, l love the power that coming from the sport package. It has an elegant look and the interior is marvelous at night. Night driving is great thanks to the super bright light

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: This care is great. It has never left me stranded. It has the rightful power of a V8. stable on the road and very fast too.

Cons: Uses premium gas. Maintenance cost is high
