Rover 75 — sound in all ways just 1 reaccurring problem the petrol tank controls are under the rear seat at least we now know how to get fixed . The first time it went to dealership they had it for 7 days this time a rac man who was to transport to the dealer spoke to his boss who told him how to fix 5 minutes can't understand why car critics slag the car off it's more comfy and economical than the e240 that i also own

Pros: Still looks like new inside and out

Cons: it's a rover so not worth any thing in trade in value

A Great Car, And At The Moment, A Bargain! — I had the pleasure of driving one of these for over 6 months, a very kind friend lending it to me whilst my various wrecks were immobile. It was a late 2004, updated model – top of the range. Black, with cream leather – any and every gizmo you can think of – simply stunning. Everywhere you went people turned their heads. I felt like the British High Commissioner… To drive: amazingly quiet and smooth – almost eerie. Even after driven for 8 hours straight, I emerged without a single ache or pain, and could have driven a further 8 hours. The 2.5 litre V6 is a sophisticated engine with variable valve timing, dual overhead cams, Bosch injection, all computer controlled (of course) but it’s not what you’d call spirited. Well, not the way Australians drive their cars anyway. You see in Europe they drive their cars around the high end of the tacho. We in Australia are used to getting all our torque, and even power, below 2500rpm – especially in a big saloon. The Rover V6 hasn’t even gotten out of bed at 2500rpm and is at its most glorious and most powerful between 5000 and 7000rpm – where it really does shift along at a rapid pace. To drive like that everyday is a bit tiring though, and fuel disappears more quickly too. The Rover really is a big, comfy luxury car. It’s for driving home in serenity after a hard day in the board room – not for thrashing like a GTi. That’s the biggest issue that I found with it. Everything else about the car is superb. Servicing isn’t as expensive as you’d be led to believe (certainly not compared to a BMW or Merc) and probably not much more than most Asian cars. Given you can have one for under $20k now, what’s stopping you?!

Pros: Cheap to buy!  Good on fuel.  Pure luxury.  Well equipped.

Cons: Image issues with the Rover badge.  Lack of bottom-end performance.

Comfy Old Man Style Cruiser — Superb ride, relaxing interior, add a tuning box to turbo diesel to transform into accomplished motorway cruiser. Bought post MG-Rover collapse, difficult to get more metal for your money.

Pros: Smooth ride, excellent power delivery (once tuned), handles extremely well considering its size and image.

Cons: Awful standard stereo (not really the type to bother replacing it though), fke wooden dashboard rattles like a child's toy.
