There were few changes to the Mercedes-Benz SLK230 in the 2004 model year. It would be the last year of production for the roadster, as the car was slated to be replaced the following year by the SLK280.
The only new offering - following 2003, when no changes were made from the 2002 model - was an optional special-edition package that included 17-inch wheels, Nappa leather sport seats and roll bar, exterior chrome accents, and a body-colored grille.
While drivers said the 2004 SLK230 was "fun to drive" and among the more affordable Benz's, there were complaints about faulty electric systems. One owner went as far as calling the whole line up "a lemon patch."

There were no changes in the 2004 model year from 2003 for the SLK32 AMG. It would also be the last of three years in which Mercedes-Benz produced the sports roadster.
A 3.2 liter, supercharged V6 with 349 horsepower developed by Mercedes-Benz's high performance division made the 2003 SLK32 AMG powered the vehicle from zero to 60 in 4.8 seconds.
One of its best features is the retractable hard top, allowing the comfort and safety of a coupe but the pure pleasure of a convertible on nice days. A cautionary note, however: drivers reported "big blind spots" when driving the car with the top up.
