2004 Dodge Intrepid Trims and Specs

2004 marks the last year for the Dodge Intrepid, and there were very few changes in any of its trims. The base model SE is a great affordable family car that offers adequate acceleration and engine power, plus a very comfortable ride, and plenty of room for kids in the back seat.

Standard features include a 2.7-liter, 200-hp V6 engine, 4-speed auto tran, 16-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, lighted entry, center console, power windows and locks, and tilt steering wheel. Add options such as ABS brakes, front side airbags, cruise control, rear split bench, and power sunroof. The Intrepid SE is admired for its roomy interior and comfortable seating arrangement. Gas mileage and handling are always mentioned as plusses. Drawbacks are an underpowered 2.7 V6 and small trunk opening.

The sportier, more performance-oriented Dodge Intrepid SXT is in its last year in 2004. With its high-output 3.5-liter, 244-hp V6 engine, this car flies and drivers love to take it out and test it on the highway. Its distinguishing standard features include fog lights, alloy wheels, and a firmer suspension. It offers rear split bench, keyless and lighted entry, cruise control, dual front airbags, and leather trim, just like the ES. It doesn't offer a trip computer or garage door opener.

Options are the same as on the other trims, including ABS brakes, power sunroof, and front side airbags. It's primary distinguishing feature is the more heavy-duty engine, and this is why owners love their SXT. It zips easily around curves, handles smoothly, and is a pleasure to drive. The size of the interior and the trunk doesn't hurt either. Most negative comments are that it doesn't have enough options, the interior is too plain, and the ground clearance is too low in the front.

The 2004 Dodge Intrepid ES is by far the most luxurious and classy of the Intrepid line, offering the most standard features and options to give you great handling and speed, but also the comfort and security you want in a family car.

Options include ABS plus traction control, power sunroof, and front side airbags. Along with its smooth ride and quick acceleration, the incredible roominess of the interior is always mentioned by owners as one of their favorite features. It is a huge full-size car, perfect for families, but it handles like a smaller car. Complaints include blind spots and lengthy car doors that make it difficult to open if you're in a cramped parking lot.
