I Bought Car Used @ 55k, In Two Years I've Driven 50k With Barely A Blip - I Love This Car. — Have had problems with acceleration ever since hitting 70k - there is a lot of jerking. There has been a consistent squeaking in my heater. Also, at one point my signal wouldn't go off that that a door was open - an electrical problem and costly fix. That being said, I am in my car for 5 - 9 hours a day so relatively speaking, I have had very few issues. The car is a blast to drive and very stylish. I feel safe driving it, even in snow, because it is very solid. This is a perfect car for someone who does a lot of driving (good gas mileage, comfortable) and wants safety. My first VW experience has been a positive one.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: high quality, handles well, sharp appearance

Cons: some electrical defects ie. check engine comes on in rain

Not A Sports Saloon By Far But A Good All Rounder/family Car Top Bulid Quality — The Passat is not a bad car it is a 1.9TDI 130bhp model it can accelerate will if you let the turbo do its job. Its a heavy car just under 2000k the breaks can overheat if driven hard. its a sport so normal driving is a bit chopy on a b road brash you now it a heavy car no rally car but cruses well though. bulit proof build quality, but eats CV joints, will do around 36mpg ave, service every 10,000miles keeps her right cumfy interior good on long trips. Good car fun drive.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: I taxi and it sticks the pace

Cons: Only the suspension lets it down to hard around town to soft under fast driving

Great Car That Attracts Little Attention — This car is a total sleeper very quick the 1.8T motor on it is amazing stable on the highway the looks of it will make you look like an old man but people underestimate what this car can do very fun car to drive gas mileage is great and maintenance on it is great

Pros: Sleeper, very quick, stable, great handling, huge trunk space

Cons: makes you look like an old man

Vw Passat — This has been a great car with quite a bit of power to it. For the basic 1.8 turbo 4 cylinder engine, i have no problem racing other cars off the line within the same class. The Triptronic shifter makes the car better than any basic automatic..

Pros: Appearance

Cons: Cost

1.8t Passat — 1.8T is a great motor, although a little more horsepower would make it a lot more appealing to those Euro fans who want a full size car with get up and go. They are reasonably priced cars and I have only had one problem with it in the 5 years and 124,000 miles I've had it. Great gas mileage and minimial maintenance required.

Pros: Reliable, comfortable, affordable

Cons: Low horsepower, hard to work on

2003 Vw Passat Glx 4-matic — I had a 2003 VW Passast GLX 4-Matic. Best car I ever owned, but at 19 years old, i haven't had too many cars. Very good on gas, V-6 engine and all wheel drive. Very fun to drive and top speed of 137 mph. Not a big fan of European cars, but my VW changed my mind.

Pros: Everything

Cons: AWD- E-brake slides were so hard

Great Sedan — A nice solid sedan. I had been driving 4wds for years so returning to the ground was hard as a short person! Unfortunately, it lacked the cargo space I needed for toting artwork to and from shows... so it had to go. I love VWs and would purchase another at some point in the future.

Pros: Smooth, solid, stylish

Cons: acceleration was a bit slow.  car often felt heavy

Oooo — It's just a good car. It looks good, but isn't too much of a head turner so I don't feel conspicuous. Had a sludge problem (so many of these do) but we change the oil regularly so it seems to be better now....

Pros: ooooo

Cons: oooooo

Www.vw.com — Great fuel economy, 2.0 20v turbo four cylinder. Plenty of get up and go. (especially these days!) Tiptronic shift for when you want to play around. German engineering, quiet, solid. Whatelse?

Pros: Headlamps are outstanding. Doesn't need fog/driving supplement. Adjustable seat is a plus.

Cons: Brakes wear sooner than some, (performance geared) No moonroof on GL model (i think anyway)

Great Until It Falls Apart — Fully functional and amazingly fast lemon. A great car until the warranty goes and then all that fine Euro engineering is worthless.

Pros: Great ride, fast, powerful

Cons: Costs lots to fix, and needs to be fixed a lot
