Good Car But It's Aging. — too bad it's too old and aging. B5.5 put VW a step behind BMW or AUDI. The 130 hp TDI was sporty, reliable, fun to drive. The design of the car was unique back in early 2001. My favorite. Resell value was pretty good. I had a few problems with this car, but since it was a second hand car i ll skipp this remark. The build quality was good. Car only had 4 airbags, but it felt solid and safe. ABS and ESP good points. Had some issues with the ESP.. i was the king of the road. A fast car.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: i loved it. hell yeah

Cons: some problems with ESP, clutch and climatronic system..minor

1.8 T Is It Really Worth The Expense And Upkeep , To Drive A Namesake? — After looking at all the receipts, gas tickets, tire expense and special order parts.I think that next time,I hope to find a better candidate for bringing something back to life, that has either been worked on incorrectly by a lame mechanic,or just been neglected. And thats hard to find in todays economy.People are territorial, and tend to drive the__________,out of thier cars!

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: great passing ability on the freeway.

Cons: gas wont stay in the tank for very long, due to the turbo 1.8 four cylinder engine

Wish I Saw More Of Them Around But Nice To Have One Of The 95 Brought To The Us — This has been a great car. I like the smooth power and torque curves and the large front and rear disc brakes have no problem slowing her down. I have had a timing belt tensioner go out but a local shop fixed it very reasonably and has been problem free ever since. Two tone interior is nice and comfortable around sharp curves and on long road trips.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Rare, fun, comfortable, 4-Motion, W8

Cons: In the event of a rare repair, not inexpensive.

Love It — it goes 160mph stock out of the dealership. handles great, hugs corners well. they are sharp, clean cut cars that just look good. it gets pretty good gas if you drive it nice. and its looks just as good on the inside, all leather baby

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: fast and good on gas

Cons: hard to work on

Great Car That Could Become A Mean Sports Car With Right Mods — I really love my car for the way it is. It's biggest weakness is its weight and the underpowered engine. With some modifications it can be cured though. I find the car to be very attractive because of the rounded corners and simplicity of the design. The interior is top notch for its price. Another weakness that this car has is gas mileage. I'm a pretty spirited driver so i use all RPMs on the V6 which results in pretty bad gas mileage. It's fun to drive...but its still a soft wagon

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Room, build quality

Cons: sluggish V6

This Was A Great Car For Me. — I loved this car - it's why I bought another one. This car was nothing more than a base model GL, but there were lots of features that came standard that in my opinion elevated it to something special. I've replaced it with a 2007 Passat Wagon 3.6L 4MOTION that has everything but navigation. The creature comforts would cost several thousand more in any other German brand.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Just about everything was awesome, to me. A wise price to pay for German engineering.

Cons: My only complaint about Volkswagen has been my service experience at the dealer.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: acceleration, handling

Cons: expensive to repair

Something The Germans Got Right... — Safe, comfortable, well built and fast. Quality car. Accelerates well though not as well as a petrol. Braking is excellent & it handles well. Nice classy looking car - inside and out. Fairly economical and low maintenance. Not as fun as a sports car but great as a nippy and safe family car.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Solid and comfortable....

Cons: None!!
