It's Green....lol — I like everything about it, except the cost of repairing it. I have dumped $2200 in the head and timing belt and am now about to dump another $2200 for tranny and clutch. But it is a dependable car as long as you can fix it right.

Pros: Favorite

Cons: Expensive

I Heart My Volkswagen Jetta! — I love my little jetta! It has excellent handling, tight suspension... It's really fun to drive on curvy roads. It's not the fastest thing, it can take a while to accelerate, but it's not horribly slow. The brakes are amazing... Well, probably cuz i just got new brake pad thingys... It's super safe. I love the interior, it's really comfy, and it looks pretty cool for just basic cloth. It's not the coolest looking thing on the outside, a little boxy, but i'm definitely not embarrassed to be seen in it. It's a great car. It's really low maintenance.... You only have to get an oil change, etc., every 5,000 miles, which is great, but maintenance can be expensive. It cost me nearly 400 bucks to get transmission fluid put in that thing (it did include a transmission flush, but....) because Volkswagen is all nazi and made their cars so that most people can't do simple maintenance like that on their own cars. But as long as it's properly maintained, it's a great car, really well built, gets pretty good gas mileage, and doesn't look half bad.

Pros: Fun and comfy!

Cons: cost of maintenance

2003 Jetta — This is my wife's car, and we love it. It has excellent build quality, it's fast, and has nearly telepathic brakes. We have had it since new, and never done any major work to it, the brakes are 80% (60K) and it looks like new. It is a dream to drive, and the seats are good (heated), it also has a premium sound system which is great for such an inexpensive car.

Pros: Turbo engine

Cons: tight back seat

2003 Jetta Tdi Wagon — 155,000 miles averaging 45 mpg - and plenty of torque - need I say more ? Cost of ownership and longevity is good. Looking forward to another 150,000 miles. Great resource for all TDI information is www.tdiclub.com. Feels safe and secure to drive with ESP and 6 airbags.

Pros: MPG MPG MPG

Cons: repair parts can be expensive

Great fun to drive, and the 1.8T engine has lots of possibilities for mods an upgrades. Gets great mileage in the city and on the highway, Built really well but some maintenance can be a pain, like changing headlight bulbs.

Pros: everything

Cons: Nothing

Overall — This car is a money pit... sooo easy to mod and so much HP for the money. Currently running stage 17lb of boost at ~ 220hp Not too expensive to maintain, but oil changes are around $90 per change since have to use premium

Pros: easy to mod, fun to drive, looks good

Cons: wish had stock HIDs

Great Vw Jetta Tdi — Performance - For 4 cyl turbo diesel decent acceleration, 4 wheel anti-lock disc brakes with enhanced stability program. Build Quality - No shakes or rattles. Doors close with a thud. Appearance - Looks like earlier small BMW. Cost - Amazing 1000 + Km's per tank; round trip drive to Anaheim Ca., back up California #1 to Calgary, Ab. total 6600 km's, total fuel costs $224. Maintenance no more than gas engine, longevity far outweighs gas models. Fun Factor - Easy to drive, park and cruise long hours on hwy trips..

Pros: Will run forever on a tank of diesel fuel.

Cons: None

Fair Fun Car — Build quality-the engine light turns on constantly!! and some plastic pieces inside the cabin, they need repairs, globe box handle, armrest handle. Cost of ownership, costly repairs if you take it to the dealer. not much leg space interior appearance .

Pros: Good exterior, fun to drive, looks nice, good performance

Cons: some annoying repairs w/ check engine light always on. etc.

Entry Level German Performance —

I miss this car so much. Ok so first of all go 03 or higher on the Mark IV body, this is the first year of this generation to have no recalls and only like 2 tsbs! First on the acceleration. The 24v VR6 engine is genius. it feels like much more than just 201hp!! Even with the auto and fairly sticky yokohomas the tires screached if I put my foot down at a light. Gas milage is great, handling is great for a car like this and the interior features on the GLX are very nice: Rain sensing wipers, digital climate control, memory leather heated seats and OMG the monsoon sound system is very loud/bassy. This car retailed for a little over $30k when new and holds it value almost too well. Mine retailed for 14k at 100k miles when i sold it! (I only got trade in value obviously). I drove the hell out of this little thing but with good maintenance and the wonders of amsoil it still purred like a kitten at 100k miles. Even the auto tranny with the original fluid in it shifted like new. If your buying a mark IV you have to get the VR6 engine and remember, 03 and up!

Pros: Acceleration, high speed stability, handling, braking power, interior features, build quality, gas mileage, reliabilty

Cons: Price, Premium gas only, scheduled maintenance cost

My Jetta — Really good solid car. Really smooth drive. I'm really happy with it. It kind of lacks of accel speed, but with some mods it gets better. The handling is pretty good, but again with different tire size it gets better. Nice interior. It's a little bit thirsty with the gas

Pros: The sound it has with the CAI (cold air intake)

Cons: eight valves
