Can Out-accelerate A Porsche Boxster And Carry A Full Drum Kit & P.a. System — it's the rare XT model they made for a couple of years before they realized the gearing was too short... does 0-60 in 5.3 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 13.8 seconds.... how many sports cars can do that.... plus, with aftermarket rims and tires, it handles just like a rally-car....

Pros: lots of power + light weight + all-wheel drive + stick = very very fast...
has lots & lots of space for goodies and junks...

Cons: lots of power = fun fun fun = 17 mpg

I Love My Forester — Comfortably tows a trailer. Comfortable on long trips. Nothing ever breaks. Decent gas mileage. Always starts right up. Count on replacing the Timing belt and front end gears when specified. Head gaskets seem to be a problem on a lot of these cars.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: Totally Reliable. Excellent in the snow.

Cons: Only complaint - The front windows have no frame and rely on the rubber weatherstripping to stop wind noise. I had it replaced during the first month but soon after it started making noise again and I have learned to live with it.

Great Awd For Every Situation — Reliable as hell, never needs repairs! Always starts, good fuel economy, good off-road with car-like performance on-road. Would suggest this AWD to anyone looking at a little 4X4. It tows a trailer well, goes though snow incredibly well and can be had with a 5 speed manual, which many others can't. With the 2.5L 4 cylinder, has just enough power to whatever you need with great fuel economy. Best of both worlds!

Pros: Reliable, fuel efficient, good performance

Cons: Not as well made as a german car, noisy inside at speed, rusts too easily.

2003 Subaru Forester Review
says:
Ive owned around 50 or 60 vehicles from motorcycles to commercial trucks and the Forester is easily the best vehicle Ive ever had. Im also an engineer and I really notice the quality of engineering in a car, and Subarus are among the best engineered vehicles Ive seen. With a lift kit and skid plates, I could go most places that my friends Cherokee could go, and the other 90% plus of the miles be in a much better handling, safer, more economical, and much much cheaper to maintain vehicle. I sold my last one with over a quarter million miles on it and still running great. Hope to get another Forester when the opportunity arises.

Power Ranked 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee better.
"More horsepower :-)"
Handling Ranked 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee worse.
"Much lower center of gravity leads to less likely-hood of roll-overs in accidents, sharper steering for easier avoidance of accidents and more fun on the canyon roads, easier to see out of etc etc"
Looks/Style Ranked 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee better.
"Its all personal choice - I just like the way the Grand Cherokee looks a little better than the Forester (which I like too)."
Front Seats Ranked 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee worse.
"Mainly that you can see out of them better over the hood - important when off-roading in avoiding large rocks or washouts on narrow mountain trails etc."
Back Seats Ranked 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee better.
"More room."
Cargo Capacity Ranked 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee worse.
"Low loading floor, lots of room with the back seats folded down - dont know how much capacity the Cherokee has from experience."
Family Car Ranked 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee worse.
"Depends somewhat on circumstances - I drive most of the time alone, so I dont need the room of the Cherokee and like that its a more fun car to drive, cheaper, safer, etc. If I regularly carried 3 or more people, then the extra room of the Cherokee might be better for passengers."
Value Ranked 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee worse.
"More capable on pavement (see handling comments), vastly cheaper to maintain, lasts more or less forever, much better on gas mileage, etc."
Would Buy Ranked 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee worse.
"To me a more fun car and way cheaper to drive, maintain, repair etc - and a safer vehicle because of the much lower center of gravity. Excellent engineering and from my experience they last more or less forever."
