2003 Saab 9-5 Linear 2.3T Wagon Review

Large And Safe Family Car — Large and safe family car in a good build quality and with a fine turbo engine. It is not a sports car, but very comfortable and the handling is fine for everyday use. The second hand price tag is attractive. The gas consumption is as expected. It is not economic as such, but neither too "thirsty".

Pros: Size, safety, quality, engine, looks

Cons: Gas consumption

Quirky Eurobox, Great Value For Money, Got Torque? — I love this car to death. Bought it used with <45k mi on it for less than half the original MSRP of ~$40k! Can't be beat, resale value I don't wanna think about but thats not why I bought it. With 250hp/258ft-lbs of torque the Aero trim is more than capable enough to keep up with other euroboxes out there. It's a bit of a sleeper if you ask me, no-one knows what you're packing. Not a track car (awd would help but it's already heavy enough, it still has been done though), this is a highway cruiser. For me the cosmic blue paint is just stellar as well.

Pros: Quirky styling, everyone has an Audi/Bimmer/Merc/Lexus but I don't see so many of the 9-5s. Gobs of torque at low revs (top @ 1900rpm) great for overtaking. With the blown 4cyl I get about 27mpg mixed driving. 30+ easy on long highway trips.

Cons: 250hp to the front wheels is a bit much, boost is limited in 1st so off the line is a bit slow. Depreciation is probably a bit steep as Saab is owned by GM.

Solid Car With Spunk — Good loading space, geat interior, outside looks appealing as well. THe one i drove had 220hp turbocharged engine so it was great fun to drive as well.

Pros: Loading space and looks

Cons: Fuel consumption

Well Rounded — The luxury sport sedan. Options loaded. 150mph car. Smooth ride. Incredible handling. Rides like Cadillac runs like Camaro. Have several performance mods on mine. New turbo, custom exhaust, performance air to air intercooler, custom intake with 5psi supercharge air induction & Jpm piping, & 17" wheels

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Refined yet sporty. All around car. Handling dream. Hid lights

Cons: Must keep up with maintenance. $

Great Ride! Classy Look And Unique Too. — Great for long trips. This car is feels great on the highway. Plenty of front and rear legroom. Trunk is very spacious too. Need a couple of additional cupholders. Gyroscope cupholder is conversation piece, but all form and no function.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Unique car. Not like everything else on the road. Looks and drives great!  Good power and acceleration for a 4 cylinder.  Decent highway gas mileage (28 mpg). Cool features (gyroscope cup holder, Power window and locks in center console, gas and trunk openers in door).

Cons: Needs better/more cup holders.

Good Big Reliable Family Car! But Will Not Light Any Fires! — Very comfortable! Feels safe! Great spec! Lots of space in passenger compartment and massive boot (back seat also fold) 2.2 Tid a bit unrefined compared to some newer engines but been durable so far! Auto box is smooth! Performance is respectable as is MPG! Poor alloy wheel quality...seems to be common!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Space! Value! Durability!

Cons: Image! Refinement!
