Cracking Car, Great Low Cost Motoring — good performance for the size, excellent for overtaking and cruising. Hardly any squeaks or rattles despite 100K coming up soon I like the styling I think it's aggressive and understated Cost of ownership has been excellent, cheap parts and has proved very reliable so far over the last 2 years of ownership. 48MPG and £125 a year for Tax :) A pleasure to drive :)

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: averages 48mpg

Cons: none

It Was A Good Dependable Work Horse — Bought in a rush to buy something economical, but to still be comfortable & have toys. Executive spec. giving full leather/wood/climate/sunroof/cruise & Sat Nav. Performance from the 2.0 HDI was okay, could have been better. Refinement was fairly okay, but plasticky, slightly cheap interior. Best part was the handling, really sharpe and fun. Ride quality normally good but this late model fitted with sports shocks! Why? Car looked quite smart with nice alloys and chrome strips. MPG was variable though, averaged 43, but if tried hard I could get 50mpg. Once got 64mpg! Very reliable once the many faults were sorted out under warranty! (managed 25k in 1 year in it!)

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Good to drive, spacious, economical, pleasant to look at

Cons: Its no german car, lacks prestige & quality

Peugeot 406 2,2 Xs4 — Hey all. Im a big big peugeot fan, had a 206 before, that was a great car, i always loved the 406 D9 model, and i finally got one, and its great. Only "problem" if you can say that, is that there not much extra stuf you can get, styling and other stuff like that, they havent made much for the new model 406, but again, the stock lok is awsome, but theres always some little tweaks you can do to make it your own.

Pros: Looks and sound sweet

Cons: Dos not drive smooth at constant speed

406 Diesel Coupe — I've had a diesel coupe for 2 years. It was three years old and had done 56000 miles when I bought it. I've added 30000 miles. It's very comfortable but for a car just out of warranty and bought from a main Peugeot dealer, it was amazingly troublesome early on. Now it's sorted and very enjoyable for long journeys. The Pininfarina trim is beautiful; the back seat is a real work of art and surprisogly comfortable once you've got in. The Peugeot bits however don't seem terribly well made. Unlike the saloon though, the back seat folds, so you can get a mountain bike in the boot with little trouble. The steering is accurate and the engine very unstressed. In town, it's a bit too big and the diesel noise is evident when it's cold at low speeds Acceleration from rest, especially with a cold engine is very slow. Once warmed up and on the open road, the torque is amazing. It feels like a really powerful car. It does everything in a very relaxed way and was a very gentle cruiser at 110-120 mph in Germany. On the trip to Germany and back at more moderate speeds, it returned 51mpg overall and did the same on a journey from the Midlands to Inverness. In cold weather, doing short journeys, it's down to 42mpg, which is still not bad for a big car. It's not built like a BMW but is ideal for anyone who does regular long journeys. The accurate steering makes it fun to drive and the good fuel economy and moderate cost of scheduled maintenance mean the pleasure isn't too expensive.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Excellent handling. Smooth, powerful, economical engine. Elegant styling. Great sound system.

Cons: Build quality. Slightly insubstantial feel. Electrical problems.
