Little changed between the 2002 and 2003 model years for the SLK230, Mercedes-Benz's two-seat, retractable-hardtop convertible. The biggest change was that an AMG sport package, inspired by the SLK32 AMG launched in 2002, was offered for the SLK230 for the first time in 2003.
The SLK230 featured a supercharged four-cylinder that makes 192 horsepower. Each SLK model has Mercedes-Benz’s Electronic Stability Program.
The SLK230 is the smallest Mercedes offered in the U.S. with a wheelbase of just 95.5 inches. By way of comparison, that's five inches longer than Mazda's Miata.

A 3.2 liter, supercharged V6 with 349 horsepower developed by Mercedes-Benz's high performance division made the 2003 SLK32 AMG a hit in its second year of production. The roadster featured an automatic transmission with a manual mode and could go from zero to 60 in 4.8 seconds.
Beyond speed, the car "is a ball to drive." One of its best features is the retractable hard top, allowing the comfort and safety of a coupe but the pure pleasure of a convertible on nice days.
The SLK32 AMG also had its suspension tweaked by AMG, making for a smoother ride than the SLK 320 it was modeled after.
