My Mid-life Crisis! — Awesome fuel economy, very comfortable ride. Tight suspension. Sound system rocks!

Pros: Zippy, easy on fuel, looks great!

Sexy On A Budget — I love the looks of my car, I find it to be the sexyest car one can get for under 20 grand. The problem is it only has 170 hp out of a 2.7L, Try harder. that should be making 200 HP minimum. The Torque is nice but it is slow off the line. It really shines when its rolling. And the 4 speed auto was a mistake for me to buy, and a Mistake to make Great stock stearo!!

Pros: Styling, Stearo, sound, Interior and overall sexy apeal

Cons: Performance, from a stop,

Affordable, Italian Style (until I Can Get The Real) — Love the styling (of course), handling, and overall feel of the car. Acceleration is not bad, contrary to reviews from others. Considering the fact that most of us have never seen 120mph, or rocketed to 60 in less than 5 secs., it's crazy to say that the car is too slow!

Owner for 0 years, 1 months

Cons: Horrible gas mileage!

Fun, Inexpensive, Reliable, Sporty Tiburon — This little car replaced a 1999 Hyundai Elantra that I was using as a little 'to and from' car - a 'beater' car as I termed it. Got a good deal on in when I purchased - it had 64,000 miles on it and a few repairs needed. After repairing (easy and inexpensive) I just put gas in it and drove - very few problems - on a 5,000 mile rotation for oil changes (synthetic) and it even at 140,000 miles, it is still a fun and economic car to drive.. The only problem that I have had with it was the clutch and pressure plate - required replacement at approximately 85,000 miles - about a $2500.00 expense - believe that it was also due to a prior bad repair attempt on prior owners part. Otherwise its continues to be a daily driver..

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Good handling, sufficient power to excite day to day driving, good reliability, all around fun to drive, reasonably easy to work on and repair..  good fuel economy for the fun factor (all around avg. 24mpg.)

Cons: clutch design expensive to replace.  spark plugs (rear bank) difficult to replace.

Hyundai's First Sports Car — Car is still holding up in 2013 and almost 150,000 miles. At the time of production it was a pretty quick car tho by today standards is pretty mediocre. requires maintenance every now and again but has been good enough to not get rid of it even after purchasing a new car.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: I can't see me getting rid of it.

Cons: No OD in the 5 speed manual.

70mph In Second Gear With Four To Go. — Performance and speed are exceptional. Quick and light the GT has about 18hp per pound. Mine is equipped with the 6 speed manual transmission which seems to perform far better than the automatic. Cruising for long distance has not been a problem with excellent fuel milage, while the car sacrifices nothing in performance, handling, and thottle response. The only drawbacks to the Tiburon are a few too many cheap plastic parts and the clutch and flywheel are a royal pain the butt to change out.

Pros: quick. agile. comfortable. straight line fast.

Cons: too much plastic. challenging maintenance

03 Hyundai Tiburon Gt — Awsome looking car, lacking in power though. Overall a good quality car only a few things wrong. The timing belt and water pump needs to be changed in these cars at 60k miles. One of the best looking cars you can buy for the money and very reliable.

Pros: the looks

Cons: no power

Avoid As Much As Possible!!!!!!!!! —

Transmissions are junk, build quality over all is absolutely worthless, gas mileage is decent, but my V8 Trans am gets better mileage... can't figure that one out. Performance wise, well, don't expect too much. Its quick, but that's it. Nothing special. Better off getting a WRX, or a SRT4. Not to mention, the electronics are horrible as well. Door locks don't work, passenger side window stopped working. If anyone offers to sell you one for $500, run away as fast as you can. You'll spend so much money just to keep it running. My second year into owning the car, I went in for an inspection and the car failed for emissions. The garage ran the diagnostic on it, and it turned out there was a problem with the catalytic converter,(Which the tiburon has 3 of), so they got underneath to take a look. The problem with the Cat's was, well there were none. Instead there were just straight pipes from the headers to the rest of the exhaust. Keep in mind the only modification i did to the car was aftermarket tail lights. So after getting into an argument with the sales manager at the dealership, and threatening to sue, they agreed to buy back the 2003 Tiburon. The price to replace the three catalytic converters was almost $4k.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: none

Cons: Maintenance nightmare, you can get better car's for the same price.

2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6 Review
says:
People probably think Im nuts. Ive had my Rally Red Hyundai Tiburon 2003 since June 2003. It has elegant styling, generous standard equipment list, reasonable price, and it had a great 10 year or 100,000 mile warranty. It came in an available V6, available 6-speed manual (i can use both on my car, amazingly!) When I am at intersections at a stop, and i need to get into the left lane, I put my car on manual so when the light turns green, I can get more speed to get ahead of the car next to me, shift quickly into the next few gears, and change into the fast lane without causing an accident. There are plenty of other little pros about this wondrous sports car. Two front cup holders, power steering, tilt- adjusting steering wheel, remote trunk release, cruise control, front door pockets, remote key entry, alarm system, front reading lights, arm rest storage compartment, 360 watts stereo output, 6 speakers, infinity premium brand speakers, infinity premium brand stereo system, mast antenna, Cassette and CD player, AM/FM Stereo, sun-glass visor holder on the room, very room glove compartment just to name a few other little things I love about this car. This car has a 2.7 Liter base engine size, front wheel drive, 170 hp @ 6000 rpm. It has a double overhead cam (DOHC), 181 ft-lbs @4000 rpm and 24 valves. I wanted a car that would get up steep hills or mountains with better ease than my last cars. This car managed, although it obviously doesnt not compare with a truck with a V 8 engine, such as most people in North Carolina have driving in the mountains. But it did make it up the mountains comfortably. This car even comes with the coolest secret compartments that I have yet to find in any other cars. I wonder why Hyundai stopped making them. The compartments are great for storing toys, tools, emergency flares and so forth. Sometimes i put money in them when I am leaving the bank with large sums of money. The best pro about this sexy sports was of all the two door sports I made my children sit in the back seats of, this one actually had a little more leg room and an awesome hatchback with a cover that comes off, allowing me to use the interior like a truck bed to haul many various sized items. I chose the sports GT edition which came with the leather seats, beefed up sound system, and sun roof which I adored. Id use the sun roof to haul things like moldings, trims, 2 x 4s you name it. People thought I was nuts! I remember many an occasion when a sales person told me this or that would not fit into my car. One occasion, I bought a 3 tier tool chest for my tools. It came in 3 boxes that were so big the man laughed at me. Laugh back at him I did. I have an uncanny ability to size things up and figure out solutions to problems when it comes to space in my car. I pulled up the front passenger seat as far as it would go and then I flipped down the front passenger seat, flipped down all the back seats, and then began directing him which boxes I wanted and placed them in the car. The man was astonished that not only did all those big boxes fit, I could still see out of the rear view mirror to see out the back. The hatch made it shut! The young man was flabbergasted. Never doubt this woman! This hatchback was so cool that I could use it as a station wagon on the way up to North Carolina to visit my girlfriend. Id pack my young boys, about age 5 and 6, spread out blankets/pillows in back. When it was time for them to sleep, Id just pull over, put the back seats down, suitcases up front, and they had a mini bed. This car for over 10 years NEVER had major Engine issues. I had regular oil changes, regular maintenance, A/C did break down about 8 years in but I didnt miss it with my windows and sunroof down. It wasnt until I started having sunroof issues with the chain and track, that I finally had the A/C repaired. The summers were getting too hot and unbearable by 2014. The A/C needed new tubes which being a foreign car were not cheap to replace. The car did start to show wear on its exterior rubber trim the first few years. By 2013, there were areas that needed a new clear coat paint job. The wheel centers started to peel off fake aluminum. The car still ran well. Some areas of the car were losing its gloss, but I was told a good wax would bring it back. I havent gotten that far yet. I have to remember to give it a try. By 2013, a cruel auto mechanic had a vendetta against me. The young man, barely in his 20s was angry that I turned him down 3 times for a date, so he dumped leak stop in my radiator the day of my inspection, and the next day the engine blew while I was on my way from Washington DC to York Pennsylvania. Not a pleasant area to break down in the middle of the night! The repair cost was staggering. I should have notified my insurance, but the thought never occurred to me. There are cons to this vehicle. The doors are so heavy I have to kick them open with my little size five feet. The hatchback is almost to high for my 4 foot 10 frame to pull down. The seats are almost too low for me to see out of the front dashboard window. Men over 511 would not be comfortable passengers. Five foot 11 is pushing it. It weights a lot for a sport coupe, lacks the athletic power-train and handling characteristics of other sport coupes, and does a crappy job of handling tough turns at high speeds (yea, Ive been stupid enough to find that out). Its an old car, so the gas mileage isnt the best. If you look up the reviews on this car, they are very high! For many years, I couldnt find reviews on the car. I knew it was a good looking car. Ive had people tell me that it was a nice looking car, and one man even offered to buy it from me a few days after I brought it home from the dealership! Even cops love this car. The first six years, cops would randomly pull me over or follow me. Once they learned who I was in my new home town in Pennsylvania, they left me alone. Granted, it as such a good looking car they assumed I must have been a drug dealer, and yes, they did have illegal behavior with this sports car. The district attorney blew it off as being an attractive young woman that the men were checking out. No, that was not acceptable. Another year or two in town, the issues finally died down. Ive been shopping around for a new car for the last four years because I want better gas mileage and I am just getting to old to be sitting that low, kicking doors open and helping my elderly friends in and out of the car.. With all the fabulous extras I love about my car, I cannot seem to find a car to replace what I have. I am so spoiled with the extras of my car. I want a 4 door sporty high gas mileage car with lots of extras and a great warranty. They dont make cars like that any more. I love my car too much to part with it.
