Honda Elelment Ex Awd — A fantastic suv incorparating honda's clever real time all wheel drive system

Pros: very reliable

Cons: could be better on fuel but the fact that the car is so versatile makes up for it

Bring Back The Element! — I am one of the original owners of an Element (2003)-mine just turned 185,000 and is going strong. This car has been my workhorse, traveling the country with my dogs. I am looking for another when I'm ready to replace Ellie. Just to update, at 180,000 miles, had a problem with shifting. Was just a spring that broke in the clutch, but decided to go ahead and replace the entire clutch, and with some new sparkplugs, she drives like a new car! Another 180,000 miles? Honda, bring back the Element, please!

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: I love my Ellie!

Cons: No longer in production!

"the Most Magical Car Ever" — If I was stranded on a desert island with only 1 car for the rest of my life, it would be a Honda Element. You can't beat it's versatility or the over all quality of the Honda Element. They are a great value.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Versatility

Cons: None

Honda Element Ex 2003 — Still love my Honda Element. It had one problem last year when a couple fan fuses? that cooled the engine caused the engine to overhead. Thankfully I realized what was happening and turned off the a/c. Turned on the heater and I was right by the dealership. $200+ bucks. Love the room in the car. It's a solid comfortable and safe car. Gas mileage is average around 20 mph The windshield has been the greatest problem. It's been changed 4xs. There was a lawsuit against Honda so now I have a windshield that doesn't break easily from rocks on the freeway. It does whistle and it's noisy in the car when on the freeway.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Roomy, comfortable

Cons: Windshields are weak, wind noise on the freeway

I owned the 2003 Element & The 2010 Soul -- I had looked at the CRV over the years, I prefer the earlier designs vs what they have morphed into. While the CRV updates has improved comfort, handling etc, they have changed the car to basically an (Sedan) Accord Wagon, vs an SUV. It has no personality, no style, just a boring vehicle. I still give it kudos for comfort, safety, and longer drives definitely a great car. But if you want to find it in a parking lot (it looks like everything else out there) or if you want something more interesting in general. -- When I lost my Element (in an accident) I looked the Fit as an alternative (I did not like the changes they did to the Element over the years, the 1st year was the best year) -- but the dealer was obnoxious and when I went to work with another dealer he intercepted shipments for the vehicle I was interested in - making it impossible to purchase. So i chose the new Soul (have owned it since 2009) -- So I opted for the Element over the CRV.. I loved the styling, the utility, the interesting exterior, fun to drive - etc. It did have sway issues with windy roads, gas mileage was not the best, but this was an incredible car. Even in the accident, it was T-boned by a beefy truck-- the Element took the damage but my husband was not hurt in the least. -- so it was a very safe vehicle (and this was before they added all the additional side airbags). - -- the Soul... I was leery because it was a very new new new vehicle.. but again dealing with the Honda Dealer was a nightmare, so I took a test drive - the Soul drove great, great handling, comfortable.. plus great looking car. -- I have had it for over 7 years now, and only have had oil changes and some recalls .. but nothing mechanical or problematic. This vehicle has excellent cargo room (my husband says it is better than his Subaru Forester) -- it is fun to drive, very agile, great turning radius.. the drive is stiff so long drives would be a chore, but it is great for local driving. The power is a bit lacking, but if i could toss in comparing another car.. I had test driven the PT Cruiser that struggled with speed bumps, the Soul is much more powerful than the PT but not as much as the CRV.
