Your Basic V6 Front-wheel Drive Sedan; Don't Expect Much. — These cars are everywhere. This body style of Malibu is almost more common than Civics in my area. It'll stick corners about as good as any small sedan will, and the acceleration isn't shabby. I find it abnormally quiet, as to where you almost need the large, analog tachometer to know it's running. The styling isn't bad, but it is too common to be memorable. The interior works, but could use improvement.

Pros: Quick, well-styled, small on outside, nimble

Cons: too common, too quiet, small on inside, easily loses grip under acceleration

This Is A Pretty Good Car,it Has Just Enough Good Looks And It Takes You Where You Need To Go. — The Chevy Malibu was made for economic purposes, not for looks. This body style first showed up in the line in 1997 and then later changed in 2004. It's a little box shaped, and it is a high-tail vehicle, but it's a car with just enough good looks for yourself to be able to drive in public without feeling embarrased. I and my mother have owned a 2003 Malibu for about three years and it's been doing pretty good...on account it was used when we got and it has over 100,000 miles on it. It has good acceleration, smooth ride, good sized passenger room, and a good sized trunk. We drive it to Greenville and Spartanburg almost every day and it does great except for the crazy drivers on the highway. I would recommend this car to a friend that's going to college, or a friend that would just use it for everyday errands because of it's good fuel economy, and it's quite safe. It does have a few Cons, but it will do.

    Pros: Passenger Room,Cargo Room,Ride,Standard Anti-Lock Braking,Build Quality,Fuel Economy.

    Cons: Steering Feel,Engine Noise(4-Cylinder)

The Car You Can Live With...for A While... — Fine enough get and go for a 3000 lb. car. Turning radius is ridiculously bad, and cornering, consequently is equally awful. Braking is solid. Rear view is rather awkward as the default suspension sets the car at an incline, thereby making backing up an adventure. Due to the light weight, incline suspension, and overall average handling at best, the rear has a tendency to slip out, especially in bad weather. However, it's a solid car, one that's fine for families and young folks to learn on. It will keep you safe and haul your crap without complaint most of the time. Overall, it's a fine car...until it hits 80k miles. I ditched this car because everything changes after about 80k. It's everything that was wrong with GM. There are some design features I never understood, like why the defroster was made such that it only defrosted the center 60% of the windshield and let the edges ice up...but those you can get past. What you can't get past is losing your car once a month for the new thing that broke. It's a cheap and easy repair, almost always, but...it's getting repaired all the time. For a first car or a temporary car while you save up, it does its job. What it doesn't do is inspire confidence in much of anything, and that's why ultimately, it's not worth keeping very long.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

    Pros: Maintenance Costs/Labor, Price, Utility

Cons: Reliability in its higher miles, performance, fails to inspire fun or confidence
