Volkswagen Mark 4 Jetta 1.8t Is The Right Car For All —

this is the first car i have ever bought. it was a car i have loved since the 1st Fast and the Furious movie came out (it didnt get my liking the mark 4 Jetta it just got me liking the Jetta's in general). The Performance this car is killer for performance. it has a 1.8 liter engine equipped with a stock Turbo Charger. it can smoke the majority of cars that are stock or have light performance upgrades. this car came from the factory with the optional bigger brake package and let me tell you, you can tell. it can stop quicker than any other car in its price range. The Build Quality this car still looks like new inside and out. i do keep it clean and well maintained (spring and fall tune ups). i dont hear any bad noise when i drive and and am constantly listening in case i do. Appearance the appearance is nice, it doesnt look like anything fast but it is. i is German so i doesnt have any outrageous styling to it; like most other German cars it is made to be a car and thats what it does. the car doesnt look like anything out of the ordinary and that is a good thing because if your like me and you bought one in silver or any other colour that is not Red the cops wont take a second look at it. this has come in handy before. the only thing i would change are the rims. i have the stock 17" GLS rims and i dont like them all that much. i am going to buy some aftermarket BBS rims for it soon. Cost of Ownership this car is alot of bang for the buck. the one i bought though had a problem with the clutch because it had cracked all the way through in 4 places (very rare and my mechanic has never seen or heard of it happening before in his life). this is not a problem with the car it is just the one that i bought had the clutch ridden harder than i though possible by the previous owner, but this is my cross to bear, back to the car in general. now that that is fixed the car run perfectly and have had no problems since. but on to something that everyone cares about or should car about, gas millage. this car is said to get 29 mpg in the city. that is good but i though i could do better. i was able to boost it to 34 mpg in the city. i was able to drive for a month on one tank of gas and i only drove it down to the half way mark; it still had a lot more gas to go. Conclusion this a a great car for anyone who wants a fast car. this could also work for a family if they wanted something fuel efficient for the city and something that go's like heck on the highway. basically anyone who wants a reliable car that is fast and wont attract alot of cop attention should seriously look at getting this car.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: fast, fuel efficent, fun to drive, turbo charged, cops dont notice them, good build quality, does not have to be fixed often (parts last a long time)

Cons: seats are not bolstered enough, the rims are not the best looking (but they can be swithed out)

Fuel Efficient Car That Last Long And Can Burn Alternative Fuels. — TDI engines can burn biodiesel, which is a renewable resource, and is relatively carbon neutral. The engine themselves lasts 25,000 hours...which at 40 mph at 50 % load is equal to more than a million miles. Maintenance is more involved...but easy enough for one to do. I get about 40 mpg in city, and 54 mpg on freeway.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: fuel saving long lasting engine.

Cons: vw build quality is hit and miss.

I've Had It For 3.5 Years, And Still Drive Around With A Stupid, Big Smile On My Face Everyday — I have a sick love affair with my car. I need to go to a support group. Fun Factor - Performance - Build - all great! Cost of Ownership????? That's a stupid question, big fat turbos and carbon fiber don't come cheap, so probably way too much.....

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Fun Fun Fast  - for reasonable money

Cons: If you don't like buying premium gas, and all things German

For Its Price I Wouldn't Get Any Other Car. — The turbo gives a considerable boost to acceleration. Around 80,000 miles it does start to need repairs. The monsoon sound system is great, but the car rattles in the back. The car looks great especially in red, the interior is comfortable, but some wear on the plastic. Needs premium which can get costly averages about 23-24mpg. Overall though it is very fun to drive.

Pros: It is a fun small car.

Cons: Its got a little too much roll for its size.

2002 1.8t Volkswagen Jetta — i love my jetta, it has an excellent balance of power, mileage, and comfort in a well put together package. the reliability is very stout, however the parts that have to be purchased for this car are alil harder to find through anyone but the dealer and tend to be more expensive... i like the stance and the look of the car.. the traction control is very intrusive on ice and cuts out the power too much.

Pros: the low end torque the lil turbo gas motor has

Cons: parts... and it is sometimes too new to work on
