Looking For The Gas Mileage And A Small Sporty Look? This Is It. — Okay, this by far is the best car I have ever owned. First off, it was a diesel. I got a kick out of going to the truck stops where the big boys would fill their 200 gallon tanks and I would fill my little tank of 12 gallons. It would get over 40 miles per gallon. That was the best deal of all. I had no mechanical problems with this little guy. Had a few minor problems that VW fixed immediately. The most major problem I had was the filters clogging up on the moon roof and flooded the floor board. Filters??? Who knew there were filters. Certainly not me but VW did. Well, anyway they are currently being sued for that. Overall again, this was the best car I owned just for the gas mileage alone.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: AWESOME gas mileage

Cons: The diesel has no get up and go. Don't expect 0-60 in 10 seconds.

My Fave Car Thus Far... — Review? Read the specs right off the line...fastest Beetle made (or available) in the USA, 180hp stock, torque is 174, 6 speed manual tranny, heated seats and mirrors, 17"rims with p225/45/17. Body is modeled after the Beetle cup race cars, and only 5000 made in US in 4 different colors. Great fun!! Wish I still had it :-(

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: fast fast

Cons: I sold it.

Horrible Car! — Performance: acceleration was good, the handling was good, brakes were ok Build quality: Way too many repairs needed on this car. Within the first 2 months of owning I spent about $1500 on fixing it. In the 3 years I owned it I spent about $5000 on repairs. It was a fun car to drive but way too many problems than you would expect for a VW. Would NEVER recommend any type of VW to a friend.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Gas mileage

Cons: Too many repairs needed

It's The Dogs! — This car is the dogs b*llocks! It's 2.3 V5 engine is really impressive, everyone thinks its a normal Beetle, until I press the accelerator and she takes off! It looks funky, especially with its unique alloy wheels. Volkswagen's rule, they make the most amazing cars, I'd had several VW's and not one has ever let me down.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Cos I can beat everyone off the lights, lol

Cons: Nothing!

2002 New Beetle Gls - Slugbug Awesomeness — This is probably the most fun car I've ever had. While the 2.sl0 engine isn't the peppiest without a turbo, it certainly can get up and go when it needs to. The best thing - it is so incredibly roomy for the driver and passenger.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Color, Comfort

Cons: No turbo in this model

Very Fun Car!! — It's a lot of fun and had some great options... sunroof, heated seats, etc. Lots of great memories in this car as well. The one problem for sure is that there isn't a cd player available as well as it's expensive to fix!!

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: They're actually a lot sportier than you would think!

Cons: no CD player available!!

Jordyn's Bug — Everyone who knows me, knows that i have had ALOT of problems with my car. Fortunately for me, they have all been covered under warranty for the most part. Despite all of the electrical and other problems, i still LOVE my car. i know that i will buy a bug again in the future when i trade this one in.

Pros: Cute, Stylish, Compact

Cons: Some electical problems

New Beetle Sport, Still Fun After Six Years And Counting. — In the fall of 2002 I decided to downsize from my Lincoln MkVIII. I was really looking for a Subaru WRX when I spotted my Reflex Silver New Beetle Sport on the lot. The Sport model features the 150 HP version of the 1.8T (Volkswagen/Audi) engine and is absolutely loaded with all the options (except auto trans) and has unique 17 inch wheels which feature body-color trim inserts. This car is very much what you could call a "sleeper" because on the road the only outward sign of performance potential is the automatic rear spoiler, which pops up at over 45 mph. A peak under the fuel cap will show two recommended tire pressure ranges, for sustained speeds of less than 100 mph and over 100 mph. I had considered trading up to the 170 hp Turbo model, or the more powerful Audi TT, but have found for $1,400 and about six hours of greasy fingers and busted knuckles I can upgrade the turbo and re-flash the ROM to end up with about 270 hp. I would also recommend putting on a set of Bridgestone RE 960 AS tires. They're awesome in all kinds of weather.

Pros: Fun to drive, great seats, great brakes, lots and lots of highway go power.  Gets lots of compliments after six years.

Cons: Mileage could be better (it's a turbo thing), poor design causes the driver seat to wear out on the outside edge, car washes can be mean to the silver wheel paint.
