Better Than Expected! — My mazda mx5 is the car i have always wanted to buy. Not very fast but great built, Very beutiful looking, babe magnetwith low maintenance cost (despite Mazda's very expensive parts!) but with great fun factor because its low weight very good balance, rear weel drive and many aftermarket tuning options. Very cheap fun machine for big boys!!!!!

Pros: The excitement you get.

Cons: No spaces

Miata #2 — I saw the new Miata and HAD to upgrade. It was some kind of special edition bluish-gray-pewter color with a gray ragtop, 6-speed manual. Whoa. This thing ROCKED. Unfortunately, I had too many near-death experiences in the wintertime with the Miata and decided to grow up. I didn't keep this car for very long.

Pros: Sooooo sexy.

Cons: Sucked in the wintertime.

Great Light-weight Sports Car In The British Tradition With Japanese Build Quality. — Absolutely outstanding handling gives credence to the fact this is the most-raced car in North America. Amazing shifter, 50/50 weight balance, tractable engine, and surgical steering. It is, however, very small and anyone over 6'4" or with an inseam over 34" need not bother to attempt ingress. The car doesn't have a terribly large amount of power (142 hp for the 2001-2005 model discussed here). And while 5.0 cubic feet of trunk space is plenty ample enough for normal trips or a carefully packed weekend getaway for two, it won't replace your SUV or station wagon for taking bags of recycling to the center.

Pros: Handling, convertible top, solid chassis, great reliability, nice fuel mileage.

Cons: Power is merely adequate, clutch is finicky for the novice driver, RWD and 50/50 balance requires some practice in aggressive maneuvers. Requires a proper alignment roughly once a year.

Perfect. — Finally, projector low beams instead of dumb flip up headlights. This car looks so much better for it. The previous owner did most of the cosmetic upgrades, I chose to add a functional rollbar for safety and looks. Overall, I'm really satisfied with this car. But like all cars, it could use more power, only 142 hp on tap here. And a 6th gear would be nice to cut down on engine noise at highway speeds and maybe get better fuel economy from it. Service date: 24 May 2007 to present. Gasoline used: mostly 89 octane over 4500 miles averaging 25.72. Per gallon price ranged from $2.669 (8/16/07) to $3.119 (5/30/07).

Pros: Pretty much everything.

Cons: Needs more power, 6th gear, and cruise control.  No room for subwoofer.

I'm Expecting A Lot Of Fun! — Just bought it. Has not been delivered yet. But I did drive several before purchasing. What can I say? So exhilerating! So MUCH fun! We have a lot of winding mountain road between our home and the nearest town with gorgeous views and plenty of fair-weather days. I expect to enjoy them to the fullest, now. This little roadster hugs curves like it is actually digging in. Best of all, and perhaps the least expected, was the profound sense of intimacy between me and the car and between the car and the road. It was almost like a Gestalt Experience! No kidding!!! I can wait to get my own to love.

Front Seats Ranked 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse worse.
"Front seats are very similar in both cars, but the Miatas seats arent as wide. The seats in the Eclipse have a sort of flange on the sides that stick out. It gives you hug while driving...which is cozy, but not my preference."
Would Buy Ranked 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse worse.
"Would buy and did. Its not the fastest from the start, but so much more fun to drive. Takes turns really tight and has better handling than the Eclipse. The Miata also hasnt needed all the replacements as much as the Eclipse has...even though the one I own is older than the Eclipse, which always seems to have computer panel issues every six months. And being a two-seater, I have a good excuse not to cart my kids friends around like a taxi service."
