Mg Zr — Was cheap to buy, runs ok, very good on diesel which is something you need right now. Gets through some water every week. It is blue the best and only colour to have. Feels like a convertible with all the road noise but I just turn up the stereo. FUN FUN FUN.

Pros: Blue

Cons: To much road noise

Zebedee — I wished I never sold it. A boy racers dream. He was called Zebedee. Very classy. Great to drive, quick away at traffic lights very nippy. Just a very beautiful car. Economic, insurance friendly I just loved everything about it, but a 3rd child forced the sale of my beloved Zebedeee

Pros: everything about it

Cons: I don't have it anymore

Loved This Car - We Had The Bright Yellow One — great fun to drive, even the little 1.4cc 105bhp was nippy!

Pros: safe, solid and reliable... and I like the look of them

Cons: not the smoothest ride coz of the suspension...

Gutsy Little 1.4 Sports Type Motor Letr Down By Poor Build Quality In Earlier Models — early models let down by the poor build quality, steering and suspension not up to the increase in power out put, which in my experience led to poor handling and roadholding, engine capable enough, interior as you would expect of a car in the " sports" mode, having body hugging ricaro style seats etc, sufficient luggage space in boot, and comfortably carries four people.

Pros: gutsy 1.4 engine,, sporty little car

Cons: poor roadhandling capabilities, head gaskets prone to go prematurely, hard ride due to sports suspension.

The Old Rover Gets A Last Hurrah — Apart from it's midlands build quality, and the fact it was an old design when it was 'launched', The MG ZR 160 was the last best hope for a 21st century good, honest, british, hot hatch. When everything was working and all the parts were tightly screwed together, it would hold its own with its contemporaries admirably and, in many cases, with more direct driving. Unfortunately, these times become fewer and further between as trim works loose and engines give in with alarming regularity. Ride is firm and gearing is short, making motorway work somewhat tiresome, particulaly as trim ratlles and fizzes. The seats, althought quite firm, were not as supportive as they looked, the upholstery itself somewhat shiny and slippery, almost as if a fine laminate covered them. Great for keeping clean, not so good at 70mph sweepers. It's not cramped, mind. 4 can travel in one without it being squashed. Deafened? Possibly. With spinal damage? Not really. The boot, too, is commodious. It must be remembered that when launched, the rover 200 was meant to contest alongside the Peugeot 306 and Ford Escort. In this company of small family cars it was quite rightly considered cramped, however, as vehicles swelled into the new millenium the now Rover 25 (and, thusly, it's tarted up cousin, the MG ZR) fitted the footprint of a supermini. In this class, comprising of the Ford Fiesta, Renault Clio, VW Polo and forth, it hold quite a respectable load. Running costs aren't any worse than a contemporary hot hatch, Insurance is nigh on that of a Renaultsport Clio, it'll do 35 to the galloin in mixed conditions, day in, day out, and parts aren't exactly hard to come by. If you really need a wing mirror, or a wing, you'd b able to source one on the way home from work if were of such disposition. Bless it, it wasn't a bad motor

Pros: Last hurrah for the British Hot Hatch

Cons: Much like the rest of the company, fell apart.

Fun, Crude, Handles Well But Poorly Built And Expensive To Maintain — I've had this car for just under two years now and I'm about to replace it in a few days time. It's a really nice car to drive with nice direct steering full of feedback, great brakes and a nice heavy clutch. It handles like its on rails Unfortunately it hasn't been particularly reliable and it has cost me a lot of money in repairs to keep it on the road. Things like glove boxes falling off, trim falling off the doors, leaky sunroofs and rattly trim don't inspire confidence! (All of which I've experienced on my car) The headgasket went at just under 50k miles and the exhaust didn't last much more than 40k. Brake discs and pads only last about 12k miles each as do front tyres. Servicing is expensive too, especially at a main dealer. It's not a great travelling car either having very firm suspension and little sound deadening making it very noisy on the motorway The engine sounds great when revved, however, and it pulls cleanly and briskly up to the 7k rpm red line. It's nice and torquey too pulling from 20mph in 4th gear (at under 2k rpm) It's a mixed bag. Very few cars will give you the same feedback and fun when driving but it's also rather crude, noisy and expensive to maintain

Pros: Handling, engine noise, fizz, fun, steering feel, brake feel

Cons: Reliability, build quality, running costs
