2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WDReview

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee — this one's got the 4.7L V8 so it has gobs of power - can easily get into illegal speeds if I'm not careful! Goes pretty much anywhere. Fuel economy is ... not great... but not as bad as expected. 13.9L/100 km is what I get with combined city/highway driving. Handles surprisingly well for its size, but does feel like driving a tank compared to other cars I've driven. Doesn't exactly warm the hearts of the environmental set. Parts are expensive but I'm glad I have the Laredo and not the Limited or Overland - fewer things to break. This one has the Selec-Trac so I can be in 2WD most of the time. Also its an unusual "Olympic" edition - just in time for Vancouver 2010!

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: power, off-road/trail capability, towing strength, utility, interior room, just the right amount of options/gadgets

Cons: cost of parts, guilty conscience around enviro-types, resale value

Jeep — This is my 4th vehicle and I LOVE it! It is everything that I have always wanted. I drive it every where I need to go. Do a little off-roading occasionally. Plenty of space inside for passengers, groceries, and even for moving if we move again. I like sporty cars and the great outdoors and this vehicle is perfect for everything I enjoy. It isn't a sexy hot rod but who wants a vehicle that you don't want a scratch on. I don't want scratches either but I don't want to fret, this Jeep is bound to get scratches, especially when joy riding or off-roading. (=D)

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Everything about it is positive. I love everything about it. It is perfect for me.

Cons: I don't have any thus far.

The Original Jeep — I obviously missed it hence the reincarnation in 2006 - pretty much identical as in customization and colors and such. Had more memories than any other car. The stuff that this thing took. I can go on and on about what I remember about this car. I absolutely loved it though. It actually held up pretty good for the beatings it took. Didn't really have all that many issues with it. Travelled the US and Canada with it. This thing was driven everywhere. So comfortable. Was the Special Edition but just the V6 but it wasn't slow or anything. I actually had the door handles, moldings, mirrors, etc... all painted to match.. diff than any other. The truck was beautiful at the time. I flipped it but into snow but it was OK but we won't go into that.

Pros: The memories lol, styling, comfort

Cons: engine problems at 68K

I Loved It So Much, I Bought Another One When They Wrote Off My First One After The Accident — Best car I've ever owned...handled really well, took the snow like a champ, I drove around every one else who was stuck last winter...Got rearended by a drunk driver on the highway who was going more than 150 km/hr and if it wasn't for the Jeep would have been hurt, solid construction

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Great to look at, handles well, off road, roomy, versitale

Cons: Tends to guzzle gas, but that is okay

Love It To Death — Performance- acceleration is very touchy, feels like you're being shot out of a cannon (I love it.) The brakes are also pretty sensitive but not in a bad way. I've had to replace them once already since buying it however. Handles amazingly, wide turns but that might just be my driving. Build Quality- this thing is built like a tank Appearance- I love it, can't speak for anyone else. Cost of ownership - terrible gas mileage but it's worth it. Fun factor- The most fun for off-roading. This tank can get you through pretty much anything.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Power, Durability

Cons: Faulty Brakes, Rolls on stop

Very Satisfied — Six cylinder engine is alright, but not great. Great dependability. No problems in 7 years. Car drives very well for an SUV. Not done anything to the car except change out a widow motor and spark plugs. Good car overall.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Reliable

Cons: Six Cylinder a little weak

Crappy Car... Great Off-road... — Terrible parts. Many of them are plastic, even some of the mechanical parts that should be metal. It was cheaply built... no wonder the company is having problems... if you make a crappy product then you will lose your consumers. I won't be buying from this company again!!!

Pros: off-road traction

Cons: parts and engineering.

Bad Car — Well, it sucks. Its good for off road but not blacktop. Its a car that I would Personally Trade for a newer version. We got on a cheap price because the seats were peed on and its a trade.Thanks. Well so ya I would totally trade this vehcle for a newer one or a better SUV.

Pros: Space

Cons: A lot of Stuff

Jeeps — love it all, fuel mileage is a little crappy 17 local 21 hwy but i bought it when gas was like 2.20 a gal, now ive gone from 200 gas bills a month to 400+, but only 3 months of payments to go. dont know why every ford and chevy guy hates jeeps so much but all i know is they are low maintenance while everyone complainin about em is on their way to the shop for one reason or another. ha! anyway, jeep manufactures could use better gasket material-the liquid stuff they use always seems to allow seepage

Pros: rugged, no worries for weather, stylin, roomy

Cons: engine gaskets suck
